The need to make a decision about doing something tonight is looming closer.... Watched Darren Hayes on a variety show - he has mastered the John Farnham "pointing". Was impressed to see Tina Kopa on backing vocals. Sometimes situations that are extremely bad for you make you the happiest.... Monday, December 30, 2002
The New Years Eve Dilema - yet again..... (Bomba and Vika & Linda are playing a show together in Melbourne. Perhaps a little too far to fly for just one evening...) Friday, December 27, 2002
Goodbye Katy.... _____________________________________________________________________________ AND a quick change of subject: Christmas day was interesting. Way too much "hiya" "you're alright?" "byeya" "foo me?", air guitar and the discovery of the Angel Teatowels. Stomach muscles hurt that day, not so much from food consumption, but from laughter. Photos may be posted in the future.... Milo cheesecake rocks my world.... Congratulations to Mo on her pregnancy. Only problem being that the baby won't be born until AFTER my visit to Holland. Happy Birthday Rob. (Fingers crossed you are given a WRX so I can drive it on my return!) Monday, December 23, 2002
Life in the Miller household never seems to be dull! Could imagine the looks on their faces when they were caught...those girls make me laugh!... I hope my new niece/nephew gets up to mischief... Saturday, December 21, 2002
Poor Pixel Kitty. Actually, now that I think about it, there is no sympathy here. I know it was supposed to reach 40 degrees in Melbourne this weekend but here in Yorkshire in the middle of the day, its 3 degrees. Bound to get colder this evening and I have a friend's work function to attend, brrrr..... Friday, December 20, 2002
Not sure why I have Gordon Lightfoot lyrics in my head...haven't listened to any of his albums for months... "That's what you get for lovin' me That's what you get for lovin' me Everything you had is gone, as you can see That's what you get for lovin' me" A Jason Kottke interview. Attempting to book tickets for us to go to Amsterdam next year. I thought £20 return was a great price to fly with the new airline, but check out taxes and airport charges, they are more than the flight itself! Thursday, December 19, 2002
Nobody said it would be easy, nobody said it would be this hard. It's been a difficult week.... Happy Graduation Tom. Why do my archives keep disappearing? Help! Wednesday, December 18, 2002
I decided against sending out Christmas cards this year. I'm usually very good at purchasing, writing the first two and then really bad at actually posting them. Everyone seems to be obsessed with distributing xmas cards in this country. I've never been so popular in my life! Presuming there isn't a Planet Ark 4 cards recycling scheme in this country.... Australia is heading for its hottest summer on record. Here in Yorkshire, the ground is still covered by frost at 2:51pm. Not to worry, won't be noticeable for too long, should be starting to get dark in another 40 minutes.... Tuesday, December 17, 2002
Yet again minimum sleep. My heart hurts, my eyes are puffy and continual memories/scenarios keep running through my head... Monday, December 16, 2002
Friends work Christmas party on Saturday night. Attempting to wear in the new shoes at work. Walking hurts, and its only been 2 hours (majority of which was sitting at my desk!). Tom, Tom, Tom, Tom. See, I have mentioned your name a number of times in my blog..... My favourite restaurant in Los Angeles is El Coyote. Everytime I visit LA, we always go out for the best Mexican food and mmmm Margaritas.... Feel like I have aged about 10 years in the past couple of months....sometimes I wish I could just be home for a few days. My thoughts are with you guys. Friday, December 13, 2002
It snowed here last night. Not what I would consider real snow, but sleet-type snow. Hopefully there is more to come... Virtual Tourist. Interesting for those travelling. Thursday, December 12, 2002
Can anyone prove that Bridget Jones was not based on my life.......? Snakebites are lethal! Suffering the side effects today.... Flights from Leeds/Bradford to Amsterdam for under £20 return, starting next year. Brilliant! I think a long lunch could be in order Mr Devisser! I was just reminded how much I love a Canadian accent.... Wednesday, December 11, 2002
We now have satellite - watched The Secret Life of Us last night. Was nice to see shots of Melbourne. As cold (and I mean cold) as it is here right now, I'm suprisingly not home sick.... Someone is really looking forward to christmas! Monday, December 09, 2002
I think I've managed about two hours sleep. Don't think the brain is going to feel too active today. Not sure why I couldn't sleep - perhaps I've just realised how close Christmas is and again, I am so far away from my family. Finished the Christmas shopping, so will be sending presents home today - hopefully they will arrive in time.... Expecting snow here on Friday - excited! Around this time last year I was arriving back in Australia during a very "Interesting" time in my life...more than anything i needed the distance, the warmth and my friends. Jonny and I have volunteered(?) to help out on Sunday by challenging school children at Crash Team Racing for 50p a game to raise money for their school. There is no way I can loose at this Playstation game, have put in the hours practising over the months, its time for me to kick butt!! (I think a couple of people may remember my obsession with Donkey Kong Country and Tomb Raider 2...oh, and Tony Hawk Proskater...and Colin Macrae Rally...) well, I love CTR just as much! Thursday, December 05, 2002
I'm in the process of writing a list of baby names.......NO, not for me, for my brother. Can see the baby being called "Gary Ablett" (Australian Rules Footballer) regardless of sex if I don't make suggestions. He is also going to find out at their next appointment if I'm going to have a little niece or nephew (notice how its all about me!) next Tuesday. I'm in a dilema, not sure if I want to know or not..... Wednesday, December 04, 2002
HI 5 to bring World Peace? "Five in the air Let's do it together Five to the side Who cares about the weather? Five on the floor The party's on at your place Five to the front There's a smile on my face! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Together!" Or will Super Nathan save the day? Somehow, I don't think so. (have watched way too many children's programs in my day....). Peter Garrett has quit Midnight Oil. Remember going to see the Oils play on my 20th birthday at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. They were brilliant. Cannot see them finding a replacement for Mr Garrett. Then again I said the same thing about INXS - but how wrong I was. Anyone who has seen the new line up with Jon Stevens will see the high energy show (not to mention the sex appeal) still continues... I know the Coolest Men in Vancouver. For the amusement of Saffa Nick and my brother, an After Grog Blog! Tuesday, December 03, 2002

And to believe I am going to be finding myself in yet another pub this evening. Diet coke only for me..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Iain and Louisa. Here's to you Mrs. Robinson............. Looks interesting; The man who fell asleep Friday, November 29, 2002
BRING ON WINTER... Leeds looks so much nicer when covered in snow. In comparison to these pics. (The Hyde Park Pub - have been known to have a drink or two (or be dragged along to watch the football), also the place where my purse was stolen... The Town Hall - still not sure what the golden owls represent.... Thursday, November 28, 2002
"Bob Franklin is a weird man" - Simon Hughes, TV Critic, The Age, Melbourne. Finally found some sort of article dedicated to my favourite comedian Bob Franklin Friends have just texted me. They are at breakfast. In Johannesburg, South Africa. Technology is amazing.... Yet another British backpacking missing in Australia. Hmmm... Australia is currently on high alert in relation terriorist attack. There is 24 hour security around the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Not sure if security will stand much of a chance if someone decides to plot against these icons. Yet to hear any thoughts of Australians into what is happening, only getting information online!... Email me! Drug and alcohol testing in the work place? No drinking on the job?? What?? Jason Kottke is on the search for a Thanksgiving dinner in Paris. He too is finding it difficult to get pumpkin pie. There is definately a gap in the market!! Wednesday, November 27, 2002
Finally, I have somewhere to live for the next six months! And its really nice! Will have to put aside the plan to move into the big blue garbage bins, at least for now... It can happen to anyone of us Anyone you think of Anyone can fall Anyone can hurt someone they love Hearts will break 'Cos I made a stupid mistake Yet another reality-show tv pop song to enter my head...what a stupid mistake. Some of us have been known to have a drink or two in St.Kilda, but this is an unusual way in getting home... This time last week I took a "mental health day" and didn't go work. Instead, I went to have a massage followed by lunch in Wetherby accompanied by a couple of glasses of wine. Ahhh, those were the days.... Monday, November 25, 2002
Secretly supporting ex-Take That! member, Mark Owen who is currently involved with Celebrity Big Brother 2. I think a sneaky visit to the solarium tonight could be on the agenda. Friday, November 22, 2002
Laptop burns mans genitals. There has to be a great line in there somewhere, will get back to you after the weekend.... Quote last week from one of my best friends "I don't mean to argue with you, but sometimes you don't do what you are told". No, not at all bossy.... Sun beginning to going down at around 3:23pm. What am I doing here? Thursday, November 21, 2002
Just read that Crackerjack, the new Australian movie, has a story line that revolves around saving the bowling club from Developers. Didn't the same sort of storyline happen in The Castle? Film features Mick Molloy, Judith Lucy and also Bill Hunter. Wasn't Bill Hunter in Muriel's Wedding which also involved the development of Porpoise Spit?? Wednesday, November 20, 2002

My new office is a lot lighter but the office looks messy, not not mention I have to share it with two other people. I want my old office back! Friday, November 15, 2002

Language is important, but full of traps. I told one of my staff last week they were 'sub-standard'. They took it. I told another they were 'sub-normal'. They burst into tears. Normal? Standard? Same thing? Apparently not. Language. David Brent, The Office, 2002 Cracks me up! Good possibility I found somewhere to live for the next six months. My work will then be complete here. The countdown begins until I venture back to Melbourne via as many places as possible!! Anyone for a visitor? (Damn Darius, and damn his new song Rushes....another catchy little number. Didn't say I liked it, said it was catchy...) Friday, November 08, 2002
Clayton asks, “What if the Hokey Pokey IS what its all about?” At last, a decent song in my head, Coldplay's The Scientist; "Nobody said it was easy It's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard" Ange, my thoughts are with you.... NEWS FROM YORKSHIRE “Feeling Blue When I’m trying to forget this feeling That I miss You / Feeling green When the jealousy wells and it won’t Go away in dreams / Feeling yellow I’m confused inside a little hazy but mellow When I feel your eyes on me / Feeling fine, sublime When that smile of yours Creeps into my mind / Nobody told me it feels so good, Nobody said you’d be so beautiful, Nobody warned me about your smile, You’re the light, You’re the light, When I close my eyes, I’m colour blind, You make me colour blind”. Colourblind by Darius from Pop Idol - tacky pop song but I just cannot get it out of my head... Lucky for me Darius Danesh will be performing down town at the 'turning on of the lights'.....not sure if we are going to head down there, although someone mentioned that he would like to see Darius on Guy Fawkes night - as Guy Fawkes on top of the bonfire. I found that was rather uncalled for (yet, slightly humorous).... Richard Ashcroft from the Verve is due to play in Leeds later this month.... Just found these e-cards. Leeds is not the most picturesque city in the world! Wednesday, November 06, 2002
I hate goodbyes…. Do you think they’ve employed a guy to just stand outside my office window and drill anything he can find just to aggravate my hangover? Bob from Accounting - great name for a blog and looks quite funny! Tuesday, November 05, 2002
By the way, no pumpkin pie has been made yet. Why you ask? Because there are NO pumpkins. Been to numerous stores, both England and Scotland trying to find pumpkins but no one sells them as they are apparently considered to be pig food. (so I’ve heard from a New Zealand friend). Guy Fawkes night tonight. Hopefully then the lead up nightly, amateur, noisy firework displays will finally stop. Going out for drinks tonight drinks as my Saffa Nick is going away. My favourite South African is leaving me. Who is going to continue the "Getting naked" dance?? Going to miss him heaps. Monday, November 04, 2002
I travelled up to Glasgow this weekend. Have been intending on going back up to Scotland for some months. Visited the area and the actual street where my grandfather grew up in the early 1900’s. Although, his house had been knocked down, replaced not by a Starbucks, but a car park for ntl vans. We also visited Loch Lomond, great views, although a little overcast and we ventured around central Glasgow. Went to a brilliant seafood restaurant called Rogano for dinner on Saturday night. The website displays just how "posh" it is. Highly recommended. Food and service was amazing. Friends from Los Angeles emailed me. They are thinking about coming over to the UK to purchase a car (as you do!). Haven’t seen them for 18 months, so would be great to catch up. Attempting to think of touristy things to do…. Oh yeah, still homeless here in Leeds, but less stressed about it this week! Friday, November 01, 2002
Somedays you should just not get out of bed, yesterday was one of those days.....lets just hope today is slightly better.... Thursday, October 31, 2002
I'm thirsty..... Pumpkin pie was not made last night, although a recipe was chosen. We are going to Glasgow this weekend, but will hopefully find time to make it. I have put the Pumpkin Pie craving into everyone.... Wednesday, October 30, 2002
Sweet, sweet pumpkin pie... Pumpkin pie cake, pumpkin pie risotto, expresso pumpkin pie, mexican pumpkin pie, tofu pumpkin pie, pumpkin pie crunch, Ginger Pumpkin Pie, Diabetic Pumpkin Pie, Egg-free Pumpkin Pie, Australian Pumpkin Pie (I had never tasted it until I went to Canada…), Vegan Pumpkin Pie, Butterscotch Pumpkin Pie, No-bake Pumpkin Pie, Pineapple Pumpkin Pie, Impossible Pumpkin Pie, 3D Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Pie Bars, Pumpkin Pie Squares, Maple Pumpkin Pie, Autumn Pumpkin Pie, Honey Pumpkin Pie, Low-Calorie Pumpkin Pie, World's Best Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pumpkin Pie; the list goes on..... There were numerous calls to restaurants last night in a vain attempt to find out if they served pumpkin pie. Craving PP. There is definitely a gap in the market… Think I may need to pop the old apron on this evening and see what we can pull together. Then again, I could just wait for Iain to come back from Manchester to cook pie for me this weekend. (I promise to stop playing "Lucky Dip" with the boxes you've packed up by the front door for when you move house. Although, Gill "WON" a cute little butter dish the other night.) I need pie!!!!!.... Tuesday, October 29, 2002
Back in the summer of '82 There are going to be water restrictions this summer in Melbourne. There haven't been water restrictions for twenty years. Would have given me an excuse not to wash my car (not that I ever needed an excuse....). Rusty from Mr Brown (looking oh so good in this pic) reminds me of Nigel from Fame Academy. Althought its pitiful television, he is my favourite.... (don't want to admit it, but I'm beginning to like East Enders. I actually know who is who. Most of the time they all seem the same to me, so usually I just guess what program is on by going through the list eg. Coronation Street, Brookside, Emmerdale, Teletubbies......) Its just after 4pm and its dark....whats going on??? Monday, October 28, 2002
This weekend in the newspaper, someone had sent in a letter in claiming that the problem of rubbish in the streets was becoming as bad in the countryside as it is in cities. Her solution was it increase taxes to pay for more council workers to clean up the streets. I would suggest putting money towards educating people to walk TWO steps to place rubbish in a trash can. Its not such a hard concept, but one that doesn’t seem to be understood by many….getting off my soap box now….. Thursday, October 24, 2002
I displayed the biggest fashion no-no this morning. I wore sneakers with my suit on the way to work. Such a BAD look, yet oh-so comfortable.... Little Fish, Big River post today made me laugh out loud - entitled Buy Low Sell High. This article was written by comedian Justin Kennedy. Worth the read as it is very funny. Justin argues that we should fight against the use of drugs and more to the point, FOR drugs - for the rights of drugs, because they have feelings too. His fight for freedom for drugs began when he was just six years old; ".....I could literally hear the Panadol beg for mercy as it saw the tip of the glimmering blade touch down on the chopping board, ready to complete its death dive. With the body of the blade only another second away from cleaving the pill’s guts in two I screamed “You’re hurting him,” like Elliot did in ET, but there were no BMXs or gravity defying miracles....." Wednesday, October 23, 2002
Can you believe they actually make a David Beckham cake? Can you believe I actually bought a David Beckham cake last night for G's birthday? Tuesday, October 22, 2002
Cake and coffee/wine TONIGHT at our apartment around 8:30pm.... School was never like THIS in my day.... Clayton's Booger-Drill - little too much information! "Chips, pies and peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeanuts!" (is that what they say at the football??). Now you can get your Dogs Eye out of Vending Machine.....(someone is sounding a little Australian today....) Wayne Carey made out to be a hero? What a dickhead. Monday, October 21, 2002
Congratulations to Iain for jumping out of a plane - parachute (not cape) attached. Happy Birthday to Gillie Billie ("I'm not bossy. You can do whatever you want......as long as you ask.....") for tomorrow. Perhaps a restorante for dinner? Great start to my Monday morning; bank teller machine out of order, left scarf on bus, left my office key at home. Then found out there was a shooting at Monash University at the campus five minutes away from my parents place. Two people were killed. Scary stuff. Oh yeah, and its dark, cold, rainy and miserable and there was also an earthquake in Manchester this morning. Friday, October 18, 2002
"i'm not an alcoholic i'm a drunk!" "i'm not slur my speeching!" The Things People say is very amusing. Use in case of emergency; Good ol' fashioned Break-up Advice. Have David Gray's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye in my head. Not sure why, haven't heard the album for ages. Looking forward to the weekend, we are going out to a "posh" (where did that word come from? I never use that word...) restaurant for dinner for Gill's birthday. Should be fun. Thursday, October 17, 2002
TOOK THE CHILDREN AWAY by Archie Roach Today, one member of the 'Stolen' Generation finally received compensation, but most importantly acknowledgement. This is a good day, there is hope.... Nellie, you are such a rebel, pushing those boundaries to their extremes! I am still so sick. Day Four. Doubt I will last the entire day in the office. Having time off work hasn't been all bad, once I get over the guilt. Watched a couple of episodes of the first series of Round the Twist. Remember when Sam Van played Pete Twist? "Yeah I got it". "You know, tiny, little". Sam went on to play guitar with Plasticine (originally known as Superman). Sensational Melbourne band. Oh and since I've been spending so much time lazing around over the past few days, Janelle, you'd be proud to know that my Logic Puzzle skills are developing quickly. Wednesday, October 16, 2002
Testing Leesa's blog.... Testing Leesa's blog..... Was at the Fox & the Firkin last night and have to say it is *so* not the same without you Leesa! Love nellie. Why am I here? I have no voice, and I feel terrible still. Think my bed and hot water bottle is calling.... Monday, October 14, 2002
I am actually embarrassed by the fact that I have not watched television over the past few days and seen the footage of the horrid incident in Bali on Saturday evening. I have however, read papers, spoken to my family, and caught up with the majority of the facts. Bali is a hugely popular holiday destination for Australians which is reflected in the number of deaths/injured/people unaccounted for. I honestly (and obviously naively) thought that if things got too out of hand, regarding world matters, I would just pack up and arrive back in Australia. No one wants to hurt us, we are too far away in Oz. How Very Wrong.... PS. Will be interesting to see how much media coverage this event receives.... PPS. Happy Thanksgiving. Wish I was there - how I love pumpkin pie! Three thanksgiving dinners over three consecutive nights last year may have been pushing it, but when there is pumpking pie to be had, I'm your girl!! I am feeling awful. Probably shouldn't be at work. My first cold for about three years. I don't pull off being sick very well.... Will comment on the Bali Tragedy when I can actually think straight.... Friday, October 11, 2002
"Twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucelettucecheesepicklesonionsonasesamaeseedbun"Just found this brilliant site which goes through growing up in Australia during the late 70's/eighties. Covers things like Catch us if you can, Wonderworld, Lunch orders, Dial a Dinos, moon boots, City Square's yellow peril, Big M's and the above tongue twister used for ordering a Big Mac at McDonalds.Money grows on trees? Speaking of childhood, via Rob, I have been browsing the site I Used To Believe which has readers contribute to some of the things they thought were real while growing up; I used to believe that the Mr Whippy van played the Greensleeves music when he had sold out of all the icecream! My father was such a cheap bastard. Yet to add my own. I did though, during primary school, convince my younger brother that I had x-ray glasses and could see what he was up to in the next room. Although he now denies it, he believed me for years... Since I was a teenager, it has always been a dream of mine to visit Greece. For years I have talked about the “Shirley Valentine moments” I’ve always wanted to experience. Just over two weeks ago Janelle and I left for Rhodes (after my persistant begging of needing to go to Greece rather than Turkey, Spain or Egypt). It was brilliant…. Greece Highlights Note in room : “Please do not bring drink or food other premises to this swimming pool. Thank you” “We were going to do things together. What happened to togetherness?? You’ve ruined everything!” An exert of a speech as a result of a premature ice-cream run overheard by everyone on the beach. Sergio. Oh my sweet Sergio, he knows the way to a woman’s heart. Greek night. Donkey Dance. Crazy Billy. Crazy Billy’s crotch. No further comment. Discovered my dislike of octopus (especially when pulled straight from the sea) to add to my list of cats, Australian Rules Football, mossy rocks, mice etc. Tomatoes. I love tomatoes, but enough is enough! Sunset in Lindos. A day of Shirley Valentine moments. Drank red wine while watching the sunset. Thanks Mike. Disappointed by the fact that no Greek man ever said "I promise not to try to make fuck with you". That would have topped off the Shirley V experience! Lazy Day Cruise. Otherwise known as the overcast, rainy day cruise. Was constantly humming the tune from Gilligans Island. Choppy seas on return – was brilliant! Dinner in Lindos at a recommended restaurant called Il Bacco. I officially love Greece! Luna Bar for drinks. Challenge by the Australian bar man proved I’d watched The Curiosity Show in my youth ("thanks for asking")! Anthony Quinn Bay – crystal clear water, absolutely beautiful. Thanks Janelle, had a brilliant week. Hope your travels in Africa are as much fun! Thursday, October 10, 2002
Have been a little slack in sorting out my National Insurance Number (haven't called them about a promised interview I was to have). Not to mention my tax. Owed a rebate which could finance a long weekend to Dublin if I'm lucky. Today is the day I finally got the wheels in motion. Lets just see how long this will take, or if it will be another "opening a bank account" experience! Found out a few days ago that a friend of mine is moving to Hong Kong. J. and I haven't lived together in the same country for about four years. Was looking forward to going home and spending a bit of time with her - dinners at the Vege Bar then across the road for coffee! I did see her briefly in Melbourne late last year when our schedules allowed us to be in the same place, and then again in Japan for one night in January this year where we found ourselves singing karoke. Currently email every day which is nice, but there have been times when we wouldn't email or chat for months at a time. Still consider J. one of my best friends, wish her the best luck in the world and congratulate her on making another huge decision. I look forward to the day that we can hang out together for long than 24 hours at a time! (Must say I am jealous as J. and another friend of mine have taken to my hobbie of walking around Albert Park Lake, one of my favourite places. Remember to go in an anti-clockwise direction, or 5km seems like an eternity....) Adrian is rather amusing. Wednesday, October 09, 2002
Not even summer yet in Australia, and already there are bushfires in Sydney. Engadine isn't too far from my older brothers place. Little scary that fires are starting up so early this year, think it could be a long, hot summer. (Not even sure if we had a summer this year in England....) Take that! Mr Blair. Harsh, but true... Ohhh, look at that sad little face.... "Drama Queen" Number 2??!! Tuesday, October 08, 2002
"Go You Big Red Fire Engine!!"Would anyone like to attend a stand up show with comedian Adam Hills at the Wardrobe on Sunday evening? Guaranteed funny night....Have Paul Kelly's I've Been A Fool in my head... So you want a second chance You want to start again, make everything alright But I want to know if you've changed this time Baby don't lie, don't you lie to me What do you take me for? I've been a fool, anyone can see But I'll be your fool no more You've got a way of talking You could sell a poor man a bottle of air But I want to know if you've changed at all Baby don't lie, don't you lie to me I've heard it all before I've been a fool, most definitely But I'll be your fool no more Everybody love you, I still love you I want you back, I need you now But I want to know Have you changed your spots at all? Baby don't lie, baby don't lie I've been a fool, I've been a fool (Don't be fooled by this post, no sadness, just listened to this album this morning thats all!) Monday, October 07, 2002
To be released, Oxford Dictionary of Rhyming Slang. I think this is mainly an English/Australian thing. Few sayings I know off hand: Jack and Jill : Bill Bob Hope : Soap Pat Cash : Pash Dog and bone : Phone Reg Grundy's : Undies Britney Spears : Beers Dead Horse : Sauce (Thanks Joe!) Email me with others. My friend Brad, who I met during my travels, knew hundreds.... John Farnham really did get to play a gig at The Espy. With 400 people in the front bar, would there have been room for any famous Farnsy 'pointing'? The making of Grease 3? Bring it on! Friday, October 04, 2002
I'm pleased to say I've lived in both Melbourne and Vancouver, which were both top of the list as The World's Best Cities. Love them both, and thus I have to ask the question why...why am I living in the UK? "Things my girlfriend and I have argued about" - Funny Blog. - "Disappearance of the TV Remote. Precisely who had it last will be hotly disputed, witnesses may be called. Things can turn very nasty indeed when the person who isn't looking for it is revealed to be unknowingly sitting on it. " Sure I could add a few points to the above blog.....(Remember Nellie and I having a good giggle over a ridiculous argument topic that I had with an ex-boyfriend...) Back to reality... Have broken two nails today. Is that a "sign"? Surely, that must be a "sign" that I shouldn't have returned from Rhodes. Should have stayed at least another week. I love the sun. Holiday summary coming soon.... PS. Postcards either on their way, or to be sent this weekend! Monday, September 30, 2002
I did it! I've made it to Greece. More updates later. Currently visiting the village of Lindos which is absolutely beautiful. Internet cafe a little warm though! Quite a few stories already accumulated, will write more later this week! Tuesday, September 24, 2002
And to believe I missed the most exciting television of the year, The Brownlow Cup. (Slight sarcasm...) One of my favourite TV programs here in the UK, The Office starts next Monday. Very funny program. May update from Greece, but depends if they have internet access on the yacht..... Monday, September 23, 2002
There was no earth-shattering Kaboom! Can't believe I missed last nights earthquake. Apparently it reached Yorkshire, but by 1am, I was fast asleep.... The television programme BEWITCHED is going to be made into a movie - "Darren!" Friday, September 20, 2002
Toronto men had charges dropped relating to Public Nudity due to the fact that they were wearing shoes. Acchoooo! Sneezing...In Greek superstition, If you sneeze, it means that someone is talking about you. If you want to know who it is, there is a way you can find out. Ask someone around you to give you a three-digit number. Count each digit together and then count down the alphabet. Whatever letter it falls on, is the initial of the person that is talking about you. For example, 534 is the number given. Add it together 5+3+4=12 . Count down the alphabet to ‘L’, which is the twelfth letter. That is the first initial of the person that is talking about you. Because you never know if what they are saying about you is good or bad, it wouldn’t hurt to whisper ‘Skorda (garlic)’ under your breath, just to be on the safe side. Good to know, but thirty degrees in Greece at the moment, not expecting a cold and/or sneezing.... Greek Superstitons. Interesting reading.... Thursday, September 19, 2002
Ahhhhhh! Why do Mothers have the ability to push the right buttons that make you so mad? I'm on the other side of the world and STILL she has that ability........her super-powers must be stronger than we first thought.... Check out nominations for Best New Artist & Best Male Performer at the Australian Record Industry Awards. The one and only Dan Brodie!! (he isn't really that "new", has been playing live shows for about 12 years....still so good looking...). I remember when we were 17 years old, Daniel starred in a film a few of us were making. Something about vampires...... Wednesday, September 18, 2002
Some "interesting" blog names I've come across.... Rooster Spice , Pop Up Toaster , Hot Buttered Death , Professor Bunyip (amusing blog!) , Donuts. Is there anything they can't do? , We are, after all, professionals , Sour Mash with a twist , Its so stimulating being your hat(to add some more over the next few days....) "We are the Cheeky girls, you are the Cheeky boys" Pop Idol - the Rivals (UK). Ridiculous song and at the same time, a tune I am unable to get out of my head. AND to believe they have been offered a record deal??!! I asked you not to tell me that..... Complete the first morning of wearing in my new boots. Okay, so perhaps it wasn't a full morning....the 15 minute walk to the bus stop was enough for me - had to change back into my sandals. My poor feet, heels should be illegal..... Looking forward to an evening in as Zadie Smith's novelWhite Teeth has been made into a four part movie being broacast tonight. Taking into account this was the writer's first novel, the book was fantasic, just hope the movie isn't going to let me down! Considering purchasing her second novel which has just been released, for holiday reading....have I mentioned that there is only 8 more sleeps to go?? Monday, September 16, 2002
In the process of having a friend help me fix this mess up! Only 10 days until Greece. Started going to the solarium as a last minute attempt to get a slight tan before going away. Warning: 6 minutes is too long on the first session, especially when you haven't experienced a "real" summer for the past few years (little burnt!).... Friday, September 13, 2002
Oh oh, perhaps its because its Friday 13th, or perhaps it because I have no idea what I'm doing when I alter my template. Scroll down, think I have a bit of work to do this weekend to get this page back to "normal". Eeeee.... Pulled out an old Kylie CD this morning, now I can't stop singing this song; "What Kind Of Fool (Heard All That Before)" I don't wanna hear your reasons I'm not giving you another chance In my kindness you saw weakness Time for me to make a stand Whenever I hear your music Singing the same old tune You're so sure that I can't refuse it But don't you speak too soon What kind of fool do you take me for Don't wanna see your face no more You can say you'll be true, I can trust in you But I heard all that before Remember how I used to need you But baby you were never there There was a time when I believed you But now I know you didn't care Don't wanna hear your hard-luck story It's the same time after time It's too late to say you're sorry You'll never change wrong to right Melbourne Girls rock! Thursday, September 12, 2002
Tomorrow is Friday 13th. Kind of superstitious, which comes from my Nan who will never kill a spider, never open an umbrella inside, never put shoes on the table etc. I have a friend who in the past few months has fallen ill twice, had two different cars break down on her, illness in the family, car broken into, lost her cell phone amongst other things. Day after day her luck doesn't seem to be getting any better. Don't think she can risk it tomorrow - I personally would not even bother getting out of bed.... Wednesday, September 11, 2002

Amazing - Alex Lloyd When all you want to do is rock, But you don't want to bear the shock no more. When it's just swell that fills your eyes, Belated feelings that you have denied. When every wolf is at your door, just like a hundred times before, But you don't want to leave the end. Cause you were amazing and we did amazing things, And I wouldn't change it, cause we were amazing things. Rebuilding bridges in your mind, your eagerness now is on the line, The plastic mountain at your feet, divided streets now as you look to find a seat. When every wolf is at your door, just like a hundred times before, But you don't want to see the end. [Chorus:] And I really didn't want that push today, No, I really didn't want to end this way. But the things that seem to bind us, Are the things we put behind us on this day Monday, September 09, 2002
One of the most exciting things about Los Angeles was visiting some of the film locations, and seeing films being made on a regular basis. Found a site Famous Locations, which shows where Lord of the Rings, Sound of Music, Harry Potter, Star Wars etc. was filmed. Hopefully more reliable than those maps that you are able to pick up from guys parked at the side of the road in LA that claim to display where the stars live... Friday, September 06, 2002
Clayton, I know where you are coming from.... Karyn has raised over US$12,700 from strangers helping via her site to pay off her enormous credit card debt. Wonder if anyone wants to contribute by donating to Leesa's Wine Consumption Fund (LWCF) to be put to good use while I'm in Greece? Thursday, September 05, 2002
Just joined Melbourne webloggers. I think holiday-planning madness is taking its toll. Will need a vacation once all this preparation has finished. Wednesday, September 04, 2002
I'm going to do a "Alistair" and ask if anyone would like for me to send them a postcard while I'm away? Email me with your address. Tuesday, September 03, 2002
Looking up holiday packages in Greece, I found this house in Mykonos. Only costs just under AU$75,000 for a week in August. Lucky for us, we are planning to go in September... Not as expensive, but this villa would be rather comfortable. Glad I'm not going here, don't think I would leave. Hmmmm, not bad. Although I'm not supposed to tell anyone, I did win one of the Cups last night while playing Crash Team Racing which was quite an achievement (but I won't tell you who I played.....) Jonny, can u PLEASE purchase Tony Hawk Pro Skater next? Monday, September 02, 2002
Yesterday, after helping to wash a friends car (my non-favourite job in the whole world), we went via McDonalds drive thru. Kit Kat Mc Flurry's rock! We ordered and paid at the first window, and were then handed a plastic bag. Apparently, this in order to help(!) the environment so people do not throw trash of their cars. The plastic bag handed to us contained one serviette. I may be getting a little too worked up over a plastic bag and a serviette, or perhaps it scares me that the year is 2002 and companies are not at all environmentally aware. PS. NOT even going to mention the polystyrene containers burgers are still served in here..... Friday, August 30, 2002
I was wondering why I was using up so much credit on my cell phone, those damn mice have been taking off with my phone when I'm not looking. Check this out. Leah, Gwenth Paltrow, Heather Graham and now Holly Valance don't fancy British men. I smile, shake my head slowly from side to side and keep my comments to myself..... Over the past few weeks, a number of people who I'd lost touch with along the way varying from a few months to years, seem to be making their way back into my life. Life is weird sometimes. Thursday, August 29, 2002
Did anyone know that Nikka Costa had married sweet, sweet Justin Stanley? (Noiseworks) I'm so behind the times.... I am yet to mention the Jessica and Holly case on this blog, although I have been keeping a close eye on the media coverage over the past few weeks. I remember being 11 years old, and talking about the news involving the disappearance of Samantha Knight in the school playground. Fifteen years later and someone is finally convicted. If/When I become a parent, I hope I don't become too protective of my own children. Does anyone have any suggestions of where in Greece I should go? Thinking Saronic Gulf Islands. Close to Athens and other islands....or Mykonos like Shirley Valentine - (lyrics). I heard this morning that Tomb Raider 2 is going to be filmed in Wales... Wednesday, August 28, 2002
A four day weekend results in me having to catch up on work over the next few weeks. Think I may work late tonight, anything to get out of the task of packing my things at home. HATE living out of a suitcase and I know I'll have to do it again for a few months.... I've noticed I've begun to say "bye-bye" at the end of phone calls. Really beginning to annoy myself.... Thursday, August 22, 2002
My office has been painted. Originally I had chosen a Appleblossom pink, but then changed my mind at the last minute as it looked dreadful. Now have my office painted a pale blue. Just hope these paint fumes go away in the next few days...make me a little light headed....I now want my new desk....and perhaps a Aeron chair?? Monday, August 19, 2002
Farnsy don't be holding your breath for a call from The Espy. Somehow, I cannot see it happening....(too much pointing??!!) Friday, August 16, 2002
And so Joe finishes his temping assignment. Guess since I've been tempting for quite a while now, I could relate to a lot of his stories. Not sure if the proposed Batman versus Superman movie will be a success. Don't the superheros both fight for good? Thursday, August 15, 2002
Thank you to the fireman who took time out of their semi-naked photo shoot to answer the fire alarm here at work. We appreciate it. Wednesday, August 14, 2002
Cannot get the music of Tindersticks out of my head. Consider them the UK version of Canada's Gordon Lightfoot. Produce really addictive, easy listening albums.... This was at the closure of a forwarded email : Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic. Tuesday, August 13, 2002
Architects of Air, the homepage is awesome. Check out the outside, but also the pics from the inside. Still getting over the excitement of Sunday's outing! Monday, August 12, 2002
Yesterday I went to a luminarium, to see Architects of Air. We were all very impressed. Hopefully post some of the photographs I took myself from inside the luminarium. Wonder if they'll turn out anything like this... Friday, August 09, 2002
Weekend nearly here. Starbucks is calling - have not indulged in nearly two weeks. Due to a refusal to go to Starbucks last weekend, we ended up in Cafe Nero - not that impressed. Hopefully booking tickets to Spain this weekend and should have organised Edinburgh for next weekend. Finally, some interesting stories to tell! Thursday, August 08, 2002
And the suprise was....a SUPRISE party for Jonny. HAPPY 29TH BIRTHDAY JONNY!. Have spent the last week organising people, changing dates numerous times, but finally pulled it off. Didn't consider the fact that the poppers would set off the smoke alarm. All was good though - we even had 2 birthday cakes. Congratulations on your 14 year anniversary Jacqui. You are a million dollar Woman!! Wednesday, August 07, 2002
Tuesday, August 06, 2002
It has just hit 22 degrees, three people have entered my office in the last ten minutes complaining about the heat!! Certainly better than the rain (or should I say flooding) of the past week. This blog, Trials of a Bored Office Temp is rather amusing.... Monday, August 05, 2002
And to believe Australia lost Rolf Harris to the Brits. Has the person who lit Ash Wednesday ever been caught? After this article, I have my suspicions..... Thanks Airdrie for the link of Vancouver scenes. You know I don't need much convincing to come back! This weekend = busy! Suprisingly good considering I sat through a 80 minute New Zeland versus Australia Rugby game (admittedly I was catching up on the celebrity gossip rather than actually watching....). Not bothered that Australia won - just happy it was finally over. Sunday morning we were woken by LOUD dance music blaring from a house across the street. Not impressed. Friend up from London and we did end up having a rather exhausting social schedule considering nothing was planned. Five days of rest until the next one begins!! Friday, August 02, 2002
"Daredevil" What is your Austin Powers Spy Name? Went to see Austin Powers 3 - Goldmember last night. Was extremely funny (hilarious!). You got an issue? Have a tissue! Wish I could remember more quotes/sayings. Fantastic cast, Micheal Caine was brilliant! Think another viewing may be in order! Thursday, August 01, 2002
A remake of Freaky Friday? This was my favourite movie when I was a child. Then along came BMX Bandits.... The handcrunch... Okay, so perhaps its my fault as I wear rings on my right hand, but I don't expect them to permanently disfigure my hand. Three rings were just crunched into my bones during and overly-enthusiastic handshake with a new colleague. I'm all for a firm grip, but that was ridiculous! I wonder if she noticed the tears welling in my eyes..... Went out for a few drinks with Jonny and Iain last night. Very excited about Spain. Only dilemma is one or two books? Should I take the "back up" book? (anyone that knows me well, knows about my "back up" theory in regards to certain aspects of life - it has worked extremely well in the past.....) Monday, July 29, 2002
Knitting stalkers are attempting to track me down via my blog. Knitting was so "six months ago" the new "in thing" are jigsaw puzzles. Yes, you all laugh, and then you all come over and decided to help and, in turn, understand the addictiveness of the jigsaw puzzle..... Thursday, July 25, 2002
I may be going out on a limb here, but I do believe that the 2002 winner of Big Brother 3 in London will be......Jade. Annoying /MINGING as she is, she has given us the most entertainment. Who is ever going to forget the strip quiz/drinking games when Jade ended up naked on the couch? Perhaps I can start going to bed at a decent hour on a work night when the show finally finishes. Is there any summer in England at all? When I hear about the lovely warm Vancouver weather, I am so jealous. Drizzling and chilly yet again here. Considering the forecast I am still surpised why, after searching for weeks on end, am I still unable to buy boots for work? Instead I see tiny summery sandles that you would be able to wear *perhaps* one day in an entire year in the UK selling for a fortune.... Tuesday, July 23, 2002
And so my house returns to normal. Well, as normal as "normal" can be. We had a couple of girls from Toronto staying with us the past few days. Unfortunately I didn't get to spend that much time with them, would have been nice if they had been able to spend a little more time here. Now we go back to the battle of the Australians vs the English in the house! Congratulations to Iain for passing his exams. Dinner last night was excellent, Pad Thai Noodles and a beer for £5 - most impressed! Monday, July 22, 2002
Oh yeah, nearly forgot, I made it to Edinburgh this weekend, my first trip to Scotland. Had a fantastic time, apart from being stuck in a shoe store for over half an hour due to the rain! Andrew came down to Edinburgh to hang out for the weekend. We all went out Saturday night for a few drinks, not making it home until around 3am, although I was ready to go home around 11. Sunday was sunshine and a I ventured up to Edinburgh Castle. We drove home last night. Think the Fringe Festival up there next month will be brilliant!! I remember having a crush on Dan Brodie when he was playing with his band Blue Rodeo back when we were about 15 years old. (Still looking sooooo damn good...) A meat pie, complete with "built-in" tomato sauce has been released recently in Australia. The only problem being, the tomato sauce seemed to get too warm. You could complete your meal with a jam donut warmed in the microwave, there is nothing like a jam burn on your or lips. With one scar from a meat pie, and the other from the jam around your mouth....ouch.... Sydney vs Melbourne In a discussion with a friend of mine originally from Sydney, I was not believed when I mentioned that Sydney actually had more rainfall than Melbourne. Yet AGAIN, Melbourne kicks Sydney's a@$!!!! Monday, July 15, 2002
Bogans making a come-back? Luckily I have the mullet hair cut look already happening... A couple of the most famous "bogans" would have to be Michelle and Ferret. Link to follow at a later date.... This isn't Neighbours. What would Harold say? Title of the article : Sam seperates from Pam. Pamela Anderson I shake my head in shame.... Thursday, July 11, 2002
Just read that a friend of mine attended bingo the other night. It was a regular occurence for Tara, Troy, Noel and sometimes Dani to visit the Royal Hotel on a Tuesday night for Drag Queen Bingo while I was in Vancouver. It was comedy and bingo all rolled into one. All I wanted to win was the unlimited solarium (sun bedding) voucher. The day Tara won it; and unselfishlessly handed to me, was one of the happiest days of my life. I was going to be tanned again!! Nellie, you make me laugh! Love the wrestling picture..... Wednesday, July 10, 2002
My friend Mezz arrives here on Friday night. Will be good to have an 'old friend' around. Its been a while, over a year and a half in fact, since we've actually hung out together. When I first moved here - to the other side of the world (again!), I knew no one, and now looking back on the past six months its been interesting to see the life I've created for myself, and the friends I've made. Mezz and I certainly have a LOT to catch up on; it has been an eventful 18 months! Monday, July 08, 2002
Singer Adam Thompson from Chocolate Starfish is recording in Sweden at the moment. Would love to go and see a "Thomo" show..... Apparently Blondie are being supported by INXS during their UK tour in December. I attended the first show INXS performed after the death of Micheal Hutchence. Jon Stevens took over the role as lead singer during that concert and it was awesome. Luckily, Mr "fantastic arms" Stevens is also involved in the UK tour, mmm mmm - CANNOT WAIT!! Friday, July 05, 2002
Brad and Jacquelyn, I hope you have a lovely day on Sunday. Fingers crossed the weather holds out for you...... Thursday, July 04, 2002
Look at me Kimmie! The Australian comedy, Kath and Kim is hilarious. The wedding is being broadcast tonight. Kim's diets One-two-three footy frank diet One footy frank for breakfast, two for lunch and three for tea. The pritken (pron. pretty-can) diet Includes such favorite tinned meals as Baked Beans, Creamed Corn, Tom Piper's Braised Steak and Vegetables and oops - all manner of pretty cans! O-zone diet This has taken taken Hollywood by storm. Jennifer Pitt-Aniston, Madonna Penn-Ritchie, Courtney Loves Cox have all been on it and have all really lost it. You only eat air for two weeks then only red meat for two weeks so it all balances out. The no-carbs diet Works on the simple principle that if you don't feed your body it will eat away at itself. Ketosis is the key to beauty. Wednesday, July 03, 2002

Of all the things in the world, I have a Dolly Parton song in my head. But, I'm sure I'm singing the version Frente put out a number of years ago; Here you come again, Just when I'm about toget myself together. You waltz right in the door, Just like you done before, And wrap my heart 'round your little finger. Here you come again, Just when I'm about to make it work without you. You look into my eyes, And light those dreamy eyes, And pretty soon I'm wonderin', How I came to doubt you. All you gotta do is smile that smile, And there go all my defenses. Just leave it up to you, and in a little while, You're messin' up my mind, an' fillin' up my senses. Here you come again, Lookin' better than a body has a right to. An' shakin' me up so, That all I really know, Is here you come again, An' here I go! No longer going to Glasgow the weekend after next, and I'm missing my older brother's wedding this weekend. Not in the best of moods.... Monday, July 01, 2002
The weekend was relaxing. Friday night was intentionally quiet. Usually my favourite night of the week to go out, but with Big Brother on, it was worth staying in! Saturday I met a friend for coffee down town. Then I had dinner made for me – mussles followed by a prawn noodle dish. Life doesn’t get much better than this! Sunday was spent reading. Two newspapers and half a book. Didn’t feel guilty for being inside as the weather is appalling at the moment. The picture below was taken one night over at Alistair’s place about a year and a half ago. I had people watching me via the webcam from my old work back in Australia. Little out of control… Friday, June 28, 2002
Friends are lining up tonight (sleeping out) for tickets for Wimbeldon tomorrow. Would be a wonderful, once in a life time experience, but just not the same without Paddy Pantsdown (Patrick Rafter)...(Marla loves to re-name people, suprised she didn't call him The Pat-Meister...) Thursday, June 27, 2002
Michael Franti and Spearhead are playing in Leeds tonight. In a dilema of whether to attend or not. Was really ill Tuesday (very unlike me, but needed a day off) and yesterday (struggled through) and only beginning to feel better today. Not sure if an evening in smokey club is that appealing.... A must read every week. Richard Berry writes to the Australian Prime Minister John Howard from the UK. Very amusing. Very Australian... Wednesday, June 26, 2002
Clayton cracks me up! His blog is hilarious. All he seems to do is drink (& recover), eat and look forward to Friday. Kind of reminds me of someone..... I am what I amAlistair and Derek have both had a go at the Google game (type in "(your name) is"). Thought I would try…. LEESA is a pretty boy obsessed teenager; the “straight, single woman”; involved in many volunteer activities as she continues to travel all over the world; a science consultant for the Toronto District School Board; mean, nice, bitchy, calm, retro, new wave and modern all at once; a wonderful, adaptable, cheerful person who seems to cope with anything; a natural beauty; fun to work with and a very talented beginner; a proud endorser of Pro*Mark Drumsticks, and Kansas City Drumworks Drums; currently recording in Sydney for her up and coming album; a perv; a neurosurgeon, 18” tall; a bird watcher; obsessed with bands and fluent in a number of languages. Tuesday, June 25, 2002
Saco will be here in one month. Should really be working on my stomach muscles now in order to cope..... Monday, June 24, 2002
Four people, one from Scotland, Wales, England and Australia walk into a bar. One of them suggests a drink - oh no, this isn't a joke, just the beginning of an out of control weekend... Highlights; Starbucks, £5 cocktails, G&Ts, Robyn's party, strangers party, cracking stereo, Gill falling down, home made cocktails, vodka and diet coke, driving range, shandy, bright eyes, lost keys, lunch outside, Gill not sitting on her chair, kung-fu kicks, fountains, McDonalds, cake, shopping at Sainsburys, Gill in the bush, no-talking Sunday, BB. Thank goodness its Monday.... Friday, June 21, 2002
Discovered the website for my friends band Mr Brown. Met up with the guys in 2000 when they were touring around Canada, and ventured up to Whistler with them for a show. Being a fan of Star World since my late teens, I have known the guys for a while; it was very cool to catch up with them on the other side of the world. The downside was that I was introduced as the international groupie, even though my holiday was planned first!! Roads once again quiet due to the England vs Brazil game this morning. Last Saturday I went grocery shopping while the World Cup was being played, amazing how empty the supermarket was. Was great! Today I arrived for work 10 minutes early due to no traffic. There doesn't seem to be anyone here. Should check just to make sure its not the weekend.... Thursday, June 20, 2002
The Three Second Rule Yes, another Big Brother reference; last night Kate happened to drop a plate of potato chips, with the house mates not being happy about it due to the fact that they have limited food for the week. Only recently was I introduced to the Three Second Rule while at a BBQ. Apparently, if you’re food does accidentally hit the ground, you have three seconds in which to retrieve it in order for it still to be consumable. After that, the food has been contaminated........unsure if this rule applies at more formal dinners. Not coping too well with hayfever today, and unfortunately left my tablets at home. A lot of other people seem to be suffering as well. Eyes are really itchy.... Wednesday, June 19, 2002
Found the The Official Jimeoin Webpage - Bob and Jimeoin have put together some great sketches performing together in The Cooking Show. Their "receipe" for making jam was to buy some jam, take the labels off the jar and to attach a piece of material on top with an elastic band...And I just found out that Jimeoin is performing at the Edinburgh Festival, and also has a few shows in Birmingham. "Ohhh, what an achievement".... Attempting to look up a home page for my favourite comedian of all time, Mr Bob Franklin. Will have to get back to you, for some reason there doesn't seem to be one.... Trust it to be a nice day, and I'm having to work! Hopefully Saturday will be nice as I have organised to play golf, and then onto a cocktail party. Last weekend Gill & I managed to make it to Harrogate for lunch. We did get a little lost on the way out to Nicole's pub, but found it in the end. Finished the day off by playing Cludeo and having Chinese for dinner, not to mention a few cheeky g & t's..... And I'm scared of a few small, innocent little mice?? Deadly Animals (Come to Australia) By The Scared Weird Little Guys Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus Tiapan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish Stonefish and the poison thing that lives in a shell That spikes you when you pick it up Come to Australia You might accidentally get killed Your life's constantly under threat Have you been bitten yet? You've only got three minutes left Before a massive coronary breakdown Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus Tiapan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish Big shark just waiting for you to go swimming At Bondi Beach Come to Australia You might accidentally get killed Your blood is bound to be spilled With fear your pants will be filled Because you might accidentally get killed An example of The Scared Weird Little Guys New Zealand By The Scared Weird Little Guys A traditional New Zealand folk ballad: Oh give me Fifty-six bits of fish and chips I haven't said that since Nineteen fifty-six That's a bit rich If you kiss me on the lips I'll hit you with my fist If you give me the shits Sorry Jonny.... :) Adam Hills, Puppetry of the Penis and my favourite - Scared Weird Little Guys are going to be at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I think we have some vacation planning on our hands! Friday, June 14, 2002
I laughed extremely loudly today on the way to work while reading the newspaper, check out this! This is funnier than chicken with teeth!! World cup fever does strange, strange things!! This is such a good song. Heard it this morning, and can't seem to to get it out of my head (go Kylie!). A Little Less Conversation ; the King still rocks! Thursday, June 13, 2002
During my time away from Australia, I attempt to read The Age or The Herald Sun everytime I am online. I enjoy keeping up with current affairs. While in the UK, I usually buy The Mail every morning due to the fact it is in my opinion one of the higher rating commuter-friendly papers. Guess it doesn't really have that much competition. This morning, I boughtThe Sun , a horrid tabloid newspaper, not really sure of the reason why. Regretting it now.... Wednesday, June 12, 2002
England vs Nigeria Amazing how everyone seems to once again be in "meetings". Office very quiet today..... Tuesday, June 11, 2002
Okay, so I know I go on about the weather (probably due to the fact I've never been this white before in my life...apart from before I went back to Australia for Christmas - unfortunately the tan didn't last too long), but the highest temperature it will reach in Leeds today is 13 degrees, and the lowest it will be in Melbourne is 12 degrees. Is that fair???? We are supposed to be approaching summer..... The mullet. Yet again, I am left with a mullet. Not happy Jan! Hair too short to tie back. Bad hair days for the next few weeks..... Manuel back on Friday from Spain. Thinking about having Sunday roast at my place for anyone who is interested... Oh, and speaking of Spain, I have been invited to go to Spain later this year - rather excited! Monday, June 10, 2002
Consider yourself lucky if you didn't receive a phone call from me early Sunday morning. Sorry Kerri and Brice, not sure how much sense I was making...... Friday, June 07, 2002
Am I the only one who works around here? Everyone seems to have disappeared into offices to watch the World Cup. Some people have mysteriously found "meetings" to go to. Still, guess its better than the third week in September.... Yah! Wasn't certain if my position was going to finish up here at the end of the month. My boss has asked me to stay on longer while they are in the transition phase. Although I am a small distance from Leeds, very happy with this position and glad I don't have to go through the horrible task of calling agencies trying to find work....well for a while longer anyway.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sarah! Weekend here again. Think a few of us are going out for drinks tonight as Steve is leaving Leeds and moving to Newcastle for work. There goes one Sunday drinking partner! Does anyone want to play golf with me? Thursday, June 06, 2002
The long weekend was very, very long! Two sayings that I've remembered... "I love chicken with teeth, they crack me up!" Sarah 2002 "Go for that Greencard" Jonny 2002" Yep, I'm jealous. Just found out a group of friends went away camping for the weekend. Must admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the "back to basics" camping (ie. no bathroom), but to go away with the Four Wheel driving team would have been fun. Even Ben was back to his old "tricks".... Promise me we'll go away again when I get back? The UK's answer to George Clooney must be Jeremy Sheffield from Holby City. Will be at the Staff Awards this Friday night. Worth considering, but won't be attending... Friday, May 31, 2002
Long weekend. Wasn't invited to the Jubilee party in Liz's backyard. House will be full of Scousers (I'm not going to understand a single word!). Manny going to Spain - does that mean I'm going to have to do some housework?? Thursday, May 30, 2002
Wednesday, May 29, 2002
Just experienced a Castle-moment , for those of you have seen the movie. But mine involved Tray 4, not Tray 3. Thats going straight to the pool room Sucker - stood up not just one, but two nights in a row. Have social gatherings planned every night over the next week, hopefully they go more smoothly that the last couple of evenings! Monday, May 27, 2002
Okay, so perhaps us Australians are getting a little too obsessed by Big Brother 3, especially as it is only in its early stages. My friend J from London is quoted as calling Jade the"sth east london blonde with no volume control". Wish I could stop singing Ant and Dec's "We're on the Ball". Another annoying, yet addictive song...Think World Cup fever has hit.... Friday, May 24, 2002
I have a dilema. Have been invited around to my friend's next door neighbours apartment on Saturday night to watch Eurovision. The only problem is that my friend invited me around as well to his place. May have to pull a "Peter Brady" - in the episode of the Brady Bunch when Peter Brady had two dates..... Was thinking about changing the name of my blog. Emailed a friend down in London who suggested "the wonderous and exciting adventures of a vegetarian animal slayer". Another friend from Holland called me a Mickey-Psycho-Killer. Now the guilt is starting to get to me... Poor Mickey. We set up mouse traps last night, and this morning I ventured downstairs to find the one under the oven moved. Oh no. Then again, there will be no Funniest Home Video Moments in my house with a mouse running up my leg - eeeh! Wednesday, May 22, 2002
Just remembered an event from a few months ago. Serious story…a friend of mine was mugged one Friday night after pulling out some cash from an ATM. The next morning the police went over to interview them regarding the previous evenings crime. As they were in the middle of breakfast when they arrived, the constables were offered some of the breakfast they were preparing. They were having bacon… The latest going-ons!

You say tomato, I say Celery? Many years ago I came to the conclusion that Australians had the same accent and it is very difficult to tell which part of the country people are from, by listening to the way they talk. This article may just prove me wrong claiming that the way we pronounce the horrid word "celery" is an indication to what part of the country we are from....We went out for drinks on Friday night, meeting up with loud, non-stop talking Australians - resulting in a headache .....ahhhhhhh..... As much as I was laughing to myself this morning about the weather forecaster describing 25 degrees celsius as “sweltering”, I now do think its kind of warm. Sun streaming through my office is actually a little uncomfortable. Shows what happens when you haven’t experienced an Australian summer for a while…. The last episode in the series of Teachers, was shown last night, which has become one of my favourite programmes.
The series is set around the work week of five principal characters who are high school teachers. The cinematography, characters, script, music, originality, the use of a donkey (zebra or penguin for that matter) at the back of a scene every now and then is what has made the show.
Disappointed last nights show began on Thursday. Interesting to see every week how they will let the viewer know what day of the week it is. Last night “Thursday” was written on the car through the fake snow that had been decorating the car to put everyone into the Christmas spirit. The word “Friday” was revoltingly the drool from Brian’s mouth on his pillow as he was sleeping. Essential Wednesday night viewing!
New series begins early next year. Just hope it is broadcast down in Australia. Airdrie check it out if it is ever shown in Canada, you will never look at high school teaching the same way again!

On this useless night
A Blue Rodeo song I can't seem to get out of my head...
And you think I'm sad, check out the fact that someone has dedicated a blog to knitting.....Look at this, (by the way, haven't picked up my knitting needles for months, but once winter hits, I'm sure I'll be right back onto it. Anyone want a scarf??).
Blue Rodeo was great on Monday night although we were all very tired indeed. Only around 150 people there, glad I finally had the opportunity to see them live.
Tonight will be a very quiet one. Think A and J are coming around to watch The Castle. May go to York on Friday night for an evening out somewhere a little different, but not yet sure. Monday, May 13, 2002
When I first visited Canada in my early 20’s, my friend George introduced me to the music of Blue Rodeo.
Tonight we are going to head out to see them as they are playing in Leeds. Very excited!
Warning; no matter how nice the weather is on a Sunday and how well the beers are going down, do not continue to drink from early afternoon through to late evening especially when you have to work the next day. Lesson recently learnt.....

Happy Birthday Janelle for Monday. I hope you have a fantastic weekend of partying in London. I’ll even send the D.O.E (Director of Entertainment) Mr Flutely in case you need any helpful tips in organising the festivities!
Friday night – Mojos for early drinks, but fingers crossed we don’t end up at the University nightclub – last weekend was enough for me!

”OWWWWWWWWWWW” JAMES BROWN Thanks to Andrew – I saw the man himself – James Brown, apparently scoring the last ticket. Waiting outside was quite amusing as there were many an “owwww” heard!
James played for over two hours, accompanied by a brass band who were just awesome. Being only 50 metres or so away from the “godfather of soul”, I must say I was most impressed. Glad I finally had the opportunity to see him after turning down a ticket in Vancouver. A wonderful evening – we even had to sing Happy Birthday to Mr Brown on his 70th birthday. Legendary. ”This is a man’s world”(Ahhhh, you have to laugh….)
Sunday a few of us had lunch in the huge Oak beer garden. And Monday, as it was a public holiday, I didn’t go to work and spent most of the day asleep. Nice to finally be able to sleep in.

Update on my life....
Started new job at St.Mary's Hospital. Really busy, but really great work environment.
Hospital located next to a cemetry, whats with that??
The mouse is still in my house...saw it this morning
Bumped into the guy I was seeing when I first got here. He is applying for a gold pass to Speed Queen. Think my suspicion that he could be batting for the other team could be correct.....
Haven't had my hair cut for five months now.
Still waiting on a postcard from Alistair who is in Spain.
Package holidays to Greece from £130!!
Still haven't got a bank account.
Think I should stop going to clubs where University Students hang out - feel a little old!

Banks...
Waited in line for 40 minutes to be told that the letter I needed from my employer last time I was in the bank attempting to set up a bank account, needed to be addressed to the bank itself. So STILL without a bank account. Ahhhh!! Its official, I dislike banks all around the world! Great way to spend a Saturday morning.
Hopefully going up to Harrogate tonight to see Nicole.
Mezz, how long until you arrive?? Saturday, April 13, 2002
Last weekend was extremely relaxing....read/slept in Dr C's backyard for most of Sunday...missing sun and warmth.
This weekend, grey clouds, and trying to ensure I don't spend too much money. My room mates and I managed to polish off a bottle of vodka with the help of a few others last night. I stayed in and went to bed at a decent hour while they went out on the town.
Start new temp job on Monday. Based downtown which means I can walk to and from work which I am most happy about!
Celine, the room mate who loves Celien Dion has moved out. Don't think he is going to be missed too much by my other room mates. I certainly won't miss Celine Dion's new album being played at 2am.... Saturday, April 06, 2002
Lovely sunshine here in Leeds. Wearing a sleeveless top, but think I am the only person doing so. Little chilly for summer clothes.
Week has been busy. Went out with "the boys" on Wednesday night and attempted to keep up with their drinking. Not a smart move on a school night! BBQ on Thursday night was brilliant. Last night we went to Mojos then onto Walkabout where I finally saw Nicole who ventured down from Otley.
Finally have email at work - finally contact with the outside world. Only working there for another week though, but great to email Janelle and Saco throughout the day!!
Room mate whenever the Queens Mother death is on television or in the newspaper "it was so unexpected".... Wednesday, April 03, 2002
Why do people assume that, just because I don't take drugs, that I can't tell when they are high??....
Anyway, I don't know why, but I have been thinking about Australia and perhaps heading back there sooner rather than later. The sun was out today at lunchtime - reminded me of how much I appreciate the warmth, the not having to wear 6.7 layers of clothing, being slightly tanned and positive moods of people around you due purely to the weather.
I also miss the beach. I have never lived this far from the ocean before. Thinking Elwood to be my next location of choice when I return, not only close to the beach, but also to Albert Park Lake. And there is a chance a friend of mine may be relocating to Sydney which would be an added bonus! Can't say who it is, or I may jinx him!!
Easter weekend was good. Went to York on the Friday. On Sunday went to Liverpool to have dinner with Tony's (who I met in Vancouver) family. Saturday, March 30, 2002
Ohhh, not feeling too well today. We ended up at the Walkabout last night. Think we made it home about 3am, but not too sure.
Spoke to my old room mates and Tricia last night. As has been said before, I want to go back to Vancouver........... Thursday, March 28, 2002
EASTER Four days away from work and everyone seems to be going out of town. I may be going to Liverpool on either Saturday or Sunday and will hopefully get to do the Beatles tour as was intended last time I was there!
Struggle to make it through the day. Had a few people over last night for Tarot card readings. Was really interesting. Think it could become a monthly occurence!

Good to be recovering from the weekend. Not too wild, but rather busy. Happy 30th birthday to Brad! And happy birthday to Sal (great dinner had Saturday night!), Dr. C and Faye for last week.
On Sunday I walked over to the boys (yes SaffaNick, you are getting yet another mention!), for my promised afternoon of Playstation only to find them out even though they said they'd be back early afternoon. When a small amount of sun came out on the Saturday, Jonny decided it was BBQ Season (Duck season, rabbit season...). They had purchased a BBQ for the summer and next thing we knew, there were 10 people standing around a miniture version of the Webber and throwing a rugby ball around. Bring on Summer!!!
This time last year I was flying down to LA, and then spent Easter in Vegas....
Question asked..."Is Celine Dion known in Australia?"
Unfortunately.... Friday, March 22, 2002
Finished work early today being Friday. Waiting for A to finish work. Think it will be a night in with a video. Out tomorrow night...
Ventured out last night for a few drinks for Faye's birthday. Made it home before midnight, but it was still a struggle to get through the day. Bring on the weekend!
Not a lot to tell really...not sure what I am up to for Easter. Everyone seems to be going away. Hope the Easter Bunny can still find me! Thursday, March 21, 2002
Think I could be getting sick. Have been in bed early every night this week. Has been good for the budget, but my back and shoulders are aching. Cannot afford any days off work, hopefully pumping myself full of vitamin C is going to ensure I don't get too sick.
The un-funny guy at work is becoming remarkably amusing!!
A belated Happy 86th birthday to my Nan. Go Grandma-ma!!!

Food Hatred I have a friend (who is now four), who hates bananas. She is totally freaked out by them. She will work the perimeter of a room just to avoid being close to one! The fear on her face when here younger sister is eating a banana is priceless!!
I have another friend (who is quite a bit older than four!) who hates Baked Beans. He won't even let you talk about them in his presence. It makes him feel physically ill to even discuss the subject.
My only real food hatred (apart from meat, being a vegetarian and all) is raw celery. The taste and texture are just awful.
No idea why I decided to blog this, but just an interesting observation!
Sorry to everyone with being a little slack with emails. I do love reading them though, but as I don't have access at work, I have to make it to an internet cafe. Also like to make it home before dark because the area I'm living in is a little scary. Was woken at 3am this morning with a guy singing as he walked (crawled?!) along the street. Cool house though, and great room mates (apart from the Celine Dion). Room mate cooked myself and a few of my friend dinner on Thursday night. After quiet a few bottles of wine, we knew it was going to be a regular occurence.

I want to come back Nellie. I want to meet you at the Railway Club on a Friday night, or for one of our chat sessions at a pub mid week.
Not much news, stayed awake at work the whole day - and its confirmed. Mezz is coming to see me!! I'm so excited. Bring on April!!! Sunday, March 10, 2002
Planning on reading a book a week. But, I need suggestions..E-mail me with ideas for favourite books to read. Open to suggestions....
Another good weekend had in Leeds. Finally settled into my house - and no longer living out of my suitcases. Thursday, March 07, 2002
New room mate ... "Reading in the paper yesterday about the scarecrow who won an award. He was the most outstanding in his field."
Had a feeling last night when I couldn't sleep that perhaps it was another house with a "presence". Whenever I would stay at my friend Dave's place in Maple Ridge, just outside Vancouver, I was never able to sleep no matter how tired I was. Found out later there were stories apparently in the house regarding non-humans. Never found out what actually happened, thankgoodness. In the end I got up for half an hour then crashed for the rest of the night - don't think I'm used to going to sleep at a decent hour.
Birthday cake at work. So not the same as the birthday cakes we had at Roadshow from David Jones. Wish I had been there the day Tanya let go of the cake before it reached the table....(Sorry Tan, but someone had to begin the bantering between our blogs. I know you have plenty of stories on me....now I'm scared....).
And finally, you are the most horrible person in the world SaffaNick, all I wanted to do last night was see Jason Donovan and you broke my heart by not taking me last night..."don't cry, you must have heard some things about me, that made you turn away, that made you live your life without me, but you were hearing rumours, I can see it in your face, they tried to tell you that someone else could take your place. You can put your faith in me, love will have its victory"...all from memory, I am a BIG fan, now very, very embarrased. Wednesday, March 06, 2002
Bit of a hint men, don't bother saying things and then not doing them... On a happier note, congratulations Dave on your PhD. Will be coming to visit you in Cambridge/Oxford???!!!
Thank you Dr.C and SaffaNick for helping me to move this evening, much appreciated! Sunday, March 03, 2002
So the night comes to an end at 3:05am, remarkably sober even though cocktails were being served all evening.
Have been out an about all day. Found myself a place to live in Leeds not far from all the people I know which is wonderful. Decent rent, and a house I know I'll feel comfortable in. Move in on Wednesday, cannot wait to finally unpack my suitcases.
I intend to spend tomorrow in detox. About time I stopped indulging in alcohol, at least for one day....but then again, who knows.....
Bring on the fry up (new English term I learnt recently) tomorrow morning. Friday, March 01, 2002
One of my best friends in the whole wide world,Tanya, has started to blog. Guessing there will quotations in there on a regular basis!
Ready for a busy weekend, just about to go and look at a house. Hopefully all will be good so I can finally unpack my suitcases.
Hopefully have exciting stories to tell after Saturday evening's cocktail party. Could tell a few stories about last night......na, won't do that to you......
Thursday, February 28, 2002
Another evening was had out in Leeds last night. Feeling very tired. Tuesday night after my first day of work, we went over to Greg and Stacey's for dinner followed by a little Playstation 2. Think I have lost my skill when it comes to video games as I was once again beaten as I seem to be reguarly when playing Crash Bandicoot Racing.
Last night we went over to the girl's place. Jonny's attempt at a Pavolva was interesting, turned out to be some kind of great tasting dessert, but was NOT Pavolva!! Drinking games preceeded dinner which began to get a little out of control!
Perhaps going ice-skating tonight, but then again I am just as happy to have an early night. Weekend looks like it is going to be a big one!!
Plan to find accommodation here in Leeds. Think it is time to settle down
