Jon Stevens to host new reality tv show "The Resort". Bring on 2004!

Monday, December 29, 2003

I laugh every time I think about Derek's five year old daughter announcing on Christmas day; "Wow! Santa must have more money than Oprah!". Comes a close second to her "decorations" comment a few years ago....

Less than two weeks until my birthday....

Went for a walk around the Botanical Gardens on the weekend. May become a regular outing...

Tuesday, December 23, 2003

I met my niece this morning. Really didn't want to come to work today - wanted to stay at my parents to play!!

Went to see The Spanish Apartment (L'Auberge Espagnole) on Friday night. Related to the lead character a little too well - he is also scared to settle down!

We ventured to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl last night for the rehearsal of the Carols by Candlelight program - along with around 5,000 other people!

The Flies! The flies in Melbourne right now are absolutely awful - especially around Albert Park Lake. One things I certainly did not miss over the past three years!

Worked in Richmond yesterday. Not that much fun.... wonder how long until my next holiday?

House sitting over Christmas and New Years in a lovely big house down by the beach. Can't wait!

Thanks to Steve, I am now the proud owner of a Railway t-shirt which was sent to me accompanied by an Angel of the North card. Made my day!!

Monday, December 15, 2003

Busy weekend! Celebrated Marla's birthday on Friday night with dinner at The Mentone Hotel. Saturday was a sad day with the three Jerry's Seinfeld's travelling up to Marysville to the cemetary in rememberance of a friend passed away a year ago. Saturday night was spent with Kerri and Bob. On Sunday I walked around Albert Park Lake with Dan and then mid afternoon found myself at a pub in Abbotsford. Love sitting in a beer garden on a Sunday afternoon!

The Robbie William's concert was fantastic. Duran Duran (Simon Le Bon looking lovely!) supported and even returned to the stage for an encore!

Monday, December 08, 2003

Very much looking forward to being entertained at the Robbie William's concert on Wednesday night....

New Zealand

Hopping Kea, I'll be buttered on both sides / breaks my clog, KFChicken roomate, beeping at sheep, "I've had the time of my life" party girls, "I'm not going to wait for you to get your card out of your bra everytime you want a drink", houdini bread, Trailer Trash, trash sack, Milford Sound, Ingrid's impression of Holly, road kill - total between Wanaka and Fox Glacier 51, napping in car, "Ahhh Wanaka", Fox Glacier trek, "so we meet again a- - hole", Barbeque Galore, "noi", arrowords, "I'm not pushing you, I'm just supporting you", "How long? Geelong". My return to Melbourne was as the storm of the century hit. Waited for 2 hours in luggage claim as the baggage handlers were unable to remove our bags from the plane due to incredible lightening - the drive home was a little crazy in pouring rain. Was a pretty amazing storm!

My brother the next Bradman?

Six more days until Robbie Williams concert...

Friday, November 28, 2003

Sitting here in Wanaka on the south island in New Zealand. Very pretty place - reminds me of the Rocky Mountains. Arrived on Tuesday, stayed the night in Christchurch, then caught coach to Queenstown. Last night we stayed in Milford South after going on a cruise (few photos were taken, to be posted at a later date). Enjoying being on holidays (yet again!). Travelling up to the Fox Glaciers tomorrow.

Funny times. The saying "Weesa Patterthon", orginally developed by Lauren Miller is now becoming popular amongst my friends!

Monday, November 24, 2003

Tanya celebrated her birthday on Friday night in style - a wig party at a restuarant. Was very funny - photos to be posted at a later date.

Leaving for Christchurch tomorrow.

Thursday, November 20, 2003

The mystery of the missing photos has been solved. Were found hiding in my suitcase. Big relief.

Currently rather busy. Trying to organise New Zealand as well as still running around catching up with people. I babysat a friend's five year old who was suffering from chicken pox on Tuesday. We had a great day playing "ponopoly".

Monday, November 17, 2003

$8.70, Penguin walk, "I like it, I like it a lot", busy as Bourke street, every man and his dog, more front that Myers, uncomfortable breakfast (as usual, as you were), One legged seagull, Vegie Bar, smoothies, Mt Eliza beach, a bottle of vodka, getting in trouble at the swimming pool, tacky nightclub, "I like what I see"..... Had a great week with friends from Holland! So much so that today I purchased a flight to New Zealand later this month to travel with Saco and Ingrid for a week or so. I'm will settle down one day .....

Enjoying being back in Melbourne. Especially enjoying the warmth (39 degrees on Saturday). So far, so good!

Saturday, November 15, 2003

Just dropped my friends off at the airport. I hate goodbyes. Nearly as much as I hate nightclubs set in the suburbs of Melbourne.....

Tonya's saying of "hmmmmm, not so much" is starting to spread around the world....

Tuesday, November 11, 2003

"I like what I see" Hilarious!

Monday, November 10, 2003

Just purchased a black suit - I'm such a Melbourne girl. Have begun the job hunting process, although this week will be filled with social functions as Saco and Ingrid arrive from Perth tonight. Phillip Island Thursday night if anyone is interested - going to see the fairy penguins.

Heard a man before use the saying "every man and his dog" - hopefully Australian sayings give me the giggles for a few more months to come!

Wednesday, November 05, 2003

Well, I'm back. Yes, its weird - wish Gillian was here to make me sane! Its very... Australian. Apparently I was lying when I said people don't use the cliche Australian sayings....

Everyone off to Oaks Day today. I decided not to spend the $60 on a ticket and instead am going to spend the afternoon down at the beach relaxing. Must enjoy my holidays while I can!!

Photos from airport.

Sunday, November 02, 2003

Close to leaving for the airport. I'm NEVER drinking again...

Saturday, November 01, 2003

I'm excited! Butterflies have hit - I'm going home tomorrow!!

Thursday, October 30, 2003

Last night a group of us ventured to the Stanley Park Ghost Train. Was amusing standing in line with our "coffee". This was followed by dinner number 2 at a restaurant we discovered. The best pumpkin pie....

Getting really cold in Vancouver. Don't think I could handle going through another cold winter. Bring on an Australian summer!!

Found out last night that my "twin" is arriving in Melbourne on the 10th November. Good times to be had!

Wednesday, October 29, 2003

Tonight is my last bingo evening. I must win....

Just been chatting three ways on messenger with friend in Japan and another friend in Melbourne. Love technology....

Tuesday, October 28, 2003

Just returned from seeing
Beyond Borders. Was entertaining, but a little too predictable!

Halloween coming up this Friday. Taking the girls out trick or treating. Show me the candy!

Wednesday, October 22, 2003

Exciting night last night at Drag Queen Bingo. The "BB" (he he he!!) table won five out of the nine prizes. Although I personally didn't win, I am the proud owner of 100 minutes of tanning thanks to Tonya. Was a very funny evening.

Monday, October 20, 2003

Rather busy weekend, and this week isn't looking much better! Off to a play reading tonight, then drag queen bingo again tomorrow night, followed by seeing a band on Wednesday night.

David Blaine's 44 days in a glass box is finally over. Although I was intriuged and went to see Mr Blaine while in London, it really wasn't the most exciting "stunt" every performed.

"Hmmm, not so much...."

Friday, October 17, 2003

I know people have told me how much it rains in Vancouver, and although I lived here for 14 months, I still didn't believe. After the past three days, I am now a believer....

Thursday, October 16, 2003

Courtesy of my older brother, who has way too much time on his hands, also a potential Sponge Bob fan(my sweet niece)!!!

SpongeBob SquarePants Theme Song lyrics
Captain: Are you ready kids?
Kids: Aye-aye Captain.
Captain: I can't hear you...
Kids: Aye-Aye Captain!!
Captain: Oh! Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!
Captain: Absorbent and yellow and porous is he!
Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!
Captain: If nautical nonsense be something you wish...
Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!
Captain: Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish!
Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!
Captain: Ready?
EveryBody: SpongeBob SquarePants! SpongeBob SquarePants! SpongeBob SquarePants!
Captain: SpongeBob.... SquarePants! Haha.

Wednesday, October 15, 2003

A night out downtown tonight - why can I feel a hangover coming on? Considering re-straightening my hair, but there really is no point, must just deal with the bad hair days for the rest of the month....(that includes whether I dry it or a three and a half year old assists in the process, same outcome....)

I had lunch today with my ex-housemate and my old neighbour. We went to Tomahawk in North Vancouver, after deciding not to go to Bowen Island. Off to Drag Queen Bingo tonight - with a bit of luck one month of unlimited tanning will be mine - bring on the freckles!

Sunday, October 12, 2003

Sponge Bob Square Pants - catchy little tune....

Went out to the Railway last night for a few drinks. Love that bar!

Friday, October 10, 2003

Found out last night that a friend who I have known for a few years, is the nephew of Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air! How cool is that!

Tonight should be a big night downtown. Cannot wait!!

Thursday, October 09, 2003

Have been in Vancouver for a week now, and twice have found myself in a leather bar with approximately 100-150 men. Was quietly humming the tune from Police Academy's "Blue Oyster Bar" scene!

Is it so wrong to eat pumpkin pie for breakfast? This is the dilema I am currently facing....

Wednesday, October 08, 2003

And the bad hair days continue.....

Dublin/Paris/London photos...

Round Dublin Without a Fridge (and a mirror)
Drinking baby Guinness shot, "I'm hiding", Gillian suffering from jetlag after a one hour flight, Book of Kells, Guinness Factory, "Literacy Luncheons" at Oscar Wilde's childhood home, U2's Clarence Hotel, Gill trying to pull bus driver, Rip off taxi, "round 2" on the double decker bus, 12 euros for two gin and tonics in an English packed bar..... Cafe en Seine, The Village, Hogans.

PARIS "I don't like where this conversation is going"
Started off with a sprint from the bus to the train and then a 3.5 hour delay at Peterborough on the way down to London, Little knowledge of french resulted in us telling the garcon that we'd already paid, Eiffel Tower - singing Superman theme tune - I believe this is your floor, Vin roughe and fromage trouses, Wine and cheese by the Eiffel Tower, Men peeing in the street, non-drawing/painting sleazy artist, drinking gin and tonics quickly as we arrived in Paris, Sunset at Sacred Cour, Moules and Frites 10 euros at Molmasan.

London
"David, is that you in the box?" Lou doing an impression of Victoria Beckham, David Blaine's latest stunt, running in the rain, inability to fit into "skinny jeans" not sure if eating profiteroles two nights in a row was the cause.....

Sunday, October 05, 2003

Saturday evening in Vancouver and I am staying home with the children. Don't think I have yet recovered from my jet lag, and staying out until 4:30am last night didn't help! Weather here really lovely. Although fog yesterday and today, still rather warm. Have caught up with a few friends, but will make a real effort to visit people next week.

TRAVEL STORY FROM HELL....
After two and a half hours sleep, Gill and I woke at 2:30 am to drive to Manchester airport. My flight was at 6:30am. Flew into London, and was even given a seat in the Economy plus section - maybe not first class, but loved the extra leg room. As the flight from London to Chicago arrived late and the race to get luggage, drop it off, then go from Terminal 5 to terminal one and go through security again, I missed my connecting flight. Eight hours in Chicago airport without much sleep wasn't much fun! Finally arrived at 11:30pm, absolutely exhausted. Didn't get to see the girls until the morning - both of them talked non stop trying to keep my attention and tell me stories at the same time! Amazing how they've grown!!

Wednesday, October 01, 2003

At Heathrow airport waiting to fly to Chicago. Sad to be leaving everyone, but excited to be going back to Vancouver! Another travel story from hell will be explained once I get over my jetlag!

Tuesday, September 30, 2003

Will update on my adventures in Dublin and Paris when I arrive in Vancouver. Leaving England from Manchester airport first thing tomorrow morning - in style, thanks to Gill and her MG. We have considered the luggage situation and still not 100% sure how to get around that problem! Guessing there will be a few tears shed....

(I have no idea how that Darius album found its way into my case....)

Most excited about seeing my friend's children!

Friday, September 19, 2003

In 10 hours time, I will be sitting in a pub in Ireland with a pint of Guinness. I can't wait!

Glad I wasn't born six to eight million years ago......

Thursday, September 18, 2003

If it wasn't for the people throwing eggs, pointing laser pens, flying toy helicopter with burgers attached and someone trying to cut of the water supply, David Blaine's stunt really wouldn't be news-worthy on a daily basis....

Wednesday, September 17, 2003

Becoming a bit of a professional in the 'let's pack up everything you own, say goodbye to your friends and move to another country' way of life. Have sorted through all my clothes and junk - thankfully everything fits into two suitcases. Getting excitement butterflies now - ready to go travelling!

Monday, September 15, 2003

Recent Photos. Amsterdam, Johnny's 30th, work dinner and a few photos of Leeds.

The ladies at work have taken a liking to my housemate Chris. We are currently at odds with each other - my "disappearing" Playstation game has resulted in Chris's "disappearing" hair products....

Gill and I were planning on doing something similar to this next week when we go to see David Blaine.

Friday, September 12, 2003

This time next week I will have finished work, and be getting ready to catch the train to Manchester airport for my flight to Dublin. These past few months seem to have flown by...

Thursday, September 11, 2003

Tickets purchased for Robbie concert. Apparantly in 'Section near the front' - quite expensive, but as Duran Duran are supporting, its well worth it!

LEEDS - as good as it gets!

Wednesday, September 10, 2003

Oh...my...Robbie Williams in Melbourne December 10th!!

I knew all I had to do was to leave the country and he'd come chasing after me....

Tuesday, September 09, 2003

The latest stunt by David Blaine intrigues me. Not really sure why....Intend to do a bit of David Blaine spotting while down in London later this month.

Tony Hawk's Boom Boom Huckjam Tour in Vancouver early October...

Cheap travel. Interesting idea.

Monday, September 08, 2003

I'm exhausted. At 4:30am this morning, I found myself waving goodbye to five gorgeous looking men. Amazing, just one phone call, and they all arrive with their BIG.....hose, to put out the fire in the dumpster outside our newly renovated house.

I'm addicted. May go home today during my lunch hour for a fix...

Friday, September 05, 2003

Death by magpie. This would have to be one of my worst nightmares.... On a good note though,

I'm the 399,712,083 richest person on earth!

Discover how rich you are! >>

Thursday, September 04, 2003

If its not one dilema, its another. My work have organised a leaving "do" for me next week at Nando's chicken restaurant. How can I tell then I'm vegetarian when its already been arranged?...just looked up website, saved by the vegetarian options!

Wednesday, September 03, 2003

My new house is huge, quiet and Freak-Free!

At Home with the Eubanks doesn't even come close to The Osbournes. Chris last night demanded his six year old son "stand to attention" while he lectured him about his use of bad language....

Tuesday, September 02, 2003

The first excitement-butterflies have just hit. Leaving in 17 days for Dublin, Paris and then a few days in London (must see David Blaine suspended in a box above the Thames as part of a 44 day stunt). Back up to Leeds for a couple of days before flying to Vancouver.

Monday, September 01, 2003

Saco's blog - although I don't understand a word, I'm sure its "hilarious"!

Thursday, August 28, 2003

Sunday is my three year travel anniversary! I left Melbourne for Rarotonga (Cook Islands) back in September 2000, before settling in Vancouver - only intending on staying away for 12 months. I spoke to my mum earlier today trying to explain something about a "duvet cover". As she didn't understand me, I quickly had to search the old memory bank to find the more familiar Australian word; "doona cover".

I think the 'Ugly Naked Guy' from Friends may have moved into our house. Louise, my house mate and I are a little freaked out by the whole situation... I have spent a lot of time in my room - finishing my third book in just over a week....

Series 3 of Teachers hasn't been as funny. The show is really missing the characters of Susan, Simon & JP. The donkey still makes me laugh though...

Friday, August 22, 2003

A friend wrote me my horoscope for the weekend;

Weekend will bring you new opportunities!
New friends will bring you great pleasure.
Careful with your money; it tends to get spent.
Be extremely nice to dutch friends for if not, they will haunt you.

Thursday, August 21, 2003

This time last week I was in Amsterdam...

Strewth - An Aussie Bible?

Wednesday, August 20, 2003

"Feel her slipping through my fingers, now she's gone, I'm sleeping with the light on". Think I'm going through a Busted stage.

Planning on going to see Shakespeare at Kirkstall Abbey (amazing historic site not far from where I live). I especially want to see Sarah Douglas who played the evil Ursa in the first two Christopher Reeves' Superman movies....

"Please explain!" Imagine being stuck in a cell with Pauline Hanson.....

Tuesday, August 19, 2003

Amsterdam III

Visted the Rijksmuseum ("The Nightwatch"), nerd map book, hot policewoman, remembering of traffic light incident, cleaning up of spilt beer, naping in the park, *pinch*, 4:30am wake-up call, crazy tram ride, texting waitress, Anne Frank's House, VB and Carlton Cold, screaming baby, throne, cell phone withdrawal.

Was a great 48 hours away. Caught up with an old friend from Vancouver as well as my Dutch friends....

Monday, August 18, 2003

Lemsip is horrible....

Will write about Amsterdam when feeling better.

Countdown until Dublin and my six weeks of travelling begin!

Would usually agree with this article about horoscopes, but after reading mine yesterday (as I do most days!), perhaps there is some truth in them....

Wednesday, August 13, 2003

After the disappointing ratings of this years Big Brother and the latest series of Fame Academy, the critics have led us to believe that reality television is no longer great tv. I beg to differ. High School Reunion has become the highlight of my week. So glad I will be back from Holland in time this weekend to catch the last episode. I will go as far to say its up there with the Real World and Road Rules!

Off to Holland tomorrow for a couple of days. Really looking forward to getting away and catching up with old friends!

Tuesday, August 12, 2003

Jacqui, just for you - Ross Wilson "Now Listen!" Jealous you had a star spotting incident!

Have worked out who I want to fly with on my way back to Australia. I wonder if I can use my frequent flyer points??

Monday, August 11, 2003

Via The Green Man, this site, Urban Legends is quite interesting.

Why don't I ever seem to have any luck even though the suburb I grew up in has good Feng Shui.....?

I refused to get sucked in by this series of Pop Idol. I did take a quick peek on Saturday night just to see how terrible the auditions were....

Russ is going to make a great Dad.

Friday, August 08, 2003

The lady in the office is reminiscing about Wednesday's "horrible, horrible heat". She really is getting worked up about it. Will we ever hear the end of it? She will be telling her great great great grandchildren about the heat wave of August 2003 - summer when it reached 30 degrees in Yorkshire....

Thursday, August 07, 2003

Was out early this morning and whenever I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, my instant thoughts were rats or mice. Luckily it turned out to be squirrels. I think I've had enough mice scarring incidents to last me a life time....

Its nice to know that even in England a good morning greeting is exchanged between strangers who are out and about before 7am. I wonder if this also applies to those on their way home from a huge night out??

HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY JOHNNY!

Wednesday, August 06, 2003

Workers in Lancashire are having today off because of the "heat wave"??

Wish I had been in Vancouver last weekend....

2/5ths of Take That were back together again on Sunday night at Nebworth...

Monday, August 04, 2003

I just "happened" to be in town on Saturday afternoon and saw Pop Idol's 3rd place getter Darius Danesh play in Leeds. (Think I am becoming a groupie....)

Friday, August 01, 2003

"Bad Eggs" starring Mick Molloy, Judith Lucy and my all time favourite comedian Bob Franklin is now showing in Australia. Not holding my breath for it to be released in the UK.....

Teachers is finally back on Channel 4 next Wednesday night. Hopefully I'll be here to see all the episodes....

Wednesday, July 30, 2003

A friend back in Australia has resigned from her job and is now relying on the radio "cash call" (and a little bit of luck) to relieve her of her financial worries....

Have planned quite a bit of travelling over the coming months. Newstories like this relating to terrorism really do make me nervous about flying...

Saying that, I just purchased my ticket to Dublin. Woo hoo! Bring on the Guinness! Recently learnt fact: At 198 calories a pint GUINNESS® has fewer calories than a pint of skimmed milk or orange juice .

Tuesday, July 29, 2003

Mark's "Art of Drinking." Very funny!

No email 'worse than car crash'. Agreed! The stress I have put myself through worrying about my hotmail account reaching its limit if I don't check my mail for a few days, is just awful!!

Monday, July 28, 2003

My ill housemate was taken to hospital by ambulance on Friday night. His inital request of a shower before the paramedics arrived was rejected, although he insisted on putting gel in his hair before leaving the house.... he has since returned home - and has been reunited with his hair products....

Finished The Diary of Anne Frank this weekend. Was re-reading in preparation for my visit to Amsterdam middle of next month. Finally going to see the "secret annexe" that Anne hid in with her family.

Poor Melbourne...

Friday, July 25, 2003

Its been raining for the past 24 hours constantly. Rain forecast for the next five days including thunder tomorrow. Hard to believe we are in the middle of summer. Nothing like my fake tan and BB finale tonight to cheer me up!

Anybody in need of some Exploding Pie? Able to pick up in a few weeks time from France....

Thursday, July 24, 2003

New Photos. Durham, London, The Androids, Leeds....

I recently started back on some free weights. My poor arms are hurting...

Wednesday, July 23, 2003

Paris was second option to Egypt. Must remember to pack fire-proof clothing....

Tuesday, July 22, 2003

Life is a Rollercoaster Computer Game...

I am determined to find an inexpensive package holiday to Egypt.....

Monday, July 21, 2003

39.5 days of work left. Not that I'm counting or anything...

Big Brother 4 UK comes to an end this week. Going to miss "Big Brother's Little Brother" host Dermot O'Leary... his yoga outfit made me laugh...

Friday, July 18, 2003

Going to the travel agent tomorrow. Look forward to going there nearly as much as the solarium/sun bed...
Let the new adventure begin!!

Thursday, July 17, 2003

Two weeks ago I had my hair coloured and cut - regrowth was a little out of control - was happy with the result at the time. Since then, I had been suffering from very bad hair days, depression regarding fluffy hair had set in. Before I went down to London last weekend, my house mate, who often lends me her straighteners had to give me a 10 minute "pep" talk in order for me to be in the right frame of mind when straightening my hair. Thankfully, it worked...

Wednesday, July 16, 2003

Congratulations Cathy. Cathy Freeman has not only retired after an amazing career, but also made the sports pages here in England. Only on the very odd occasion are female athletes ever mentioned in Britain. Do English women not play sport, or are the press only interested in featuring them when they are topless?? (not being sarcastic - many daily papers feature half naked "page three girls"....)

Earlier today I paid £90 for a return flight to Amsterdam with Jet2. Just found out I could have paid a £1 each way (excluding taxes) if I had of waited and booked tomorrow. Not happy, not happy at all...

Tuesday, July 15, 2003

I have a feeling life is going to be rather interesting over the next few months...

Blogathon starts on the 26th July....

Monday, July 14, 2003

Returned from London late last night. My feet are extremely sore - walked for about five hours yesterday in uncomfortable sandals.

My phone call with Jacqui on Sunday morning was hilarious (and greatly needed). With the insistance I start to eat Kel's sausages, I lost it. Dippity Bix and Fat-Free Fruche also had me in tears of laughter.

Starting young - 2 year old Oskar has his own blog!

Thursday, July 10, 2003

Plans to distribute marijuana to seriously ill and allowing same sex marriages. I doubt I will be around the day the Britain or Australian governments pass either of these laws. Canada rocks!

Ewwww!! I am never travelling with Qantas again.... think a free Concorde flight sounds more appealing....

Wednesday, July 09, 2003

Recently learnt fact - "Taj" on Neighbours is the son of James Reyne....

Writer/comedian Pete McCarthy will be in Leeds for Rhythmns of the City. Can highly recommend Mc Carthy's Bar as a great book.

The advertised £3.99 one way flights to Dublin, actually cost £29.52 return with taxes included. Still, as Jimeoin would say, "bargain!" and then do his little Irish jig!!

Photos of Melbourne (from The Age)

And you really didn't think it would happen
But it really is the end of the line
So I'm sorry that you turned to driftwood
But you've been drifting for a long, long time

Have had Travis song in my head all morning...

Have recently found out that there will be a "Chandler Bing" visitor in Melbourne later this year...

New Stonehenge theory. Can't believe Mezz and Karen didn't work out the meaning of Stonehenge on their visit a few weeks ago....

Maybe I am a little jealous of being unable to do the one winged duck. $28 million would be nice....

Monday, July 07, 2003

Going out for drinks tonight after work to say farewell to some friends who are heading back to Cairns. The part I hate about travelling are the goodbyes....

There was a bomb scare involving Big Brother UK on Friday night.

Friday, July 04, 2003

Not going to deny it - this summer (summer? Heating on and its raining...) I have developed a liking for the fine beverage known as the "shandy". Have been encouraged by a friend not to be embarrased about this, but instead to let my inner-nanna out!

The Hulk premiered last night in London. I wish Eric Bana was still doing stand up as he is one of my all time favourite comedians. Have every episode of "Eric" recorded on video - absolutely hilarious series. Groovy Pants, Groovy Pants, Groovy Pants Gus.

"I don't like Prince Charles!" This story makes me laugh....

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

What a cheek!

Tuesday, July 01, 2003

Just noticed that I was a little heavy handed with the fake tan last night - especially on my left foot. My sandled feet will remain under the desk for the rest of the day....

Have decided I would like to go to Egypt. It will be 44 degrees in Luxor on Friday. Think I may leave it for a few months.

A number of friends back in Australia are having a hard time with life right now. Wish I was back there to help - emails & phone calls just aren't the same...

Thinking and Driving is a road hazard?

Wednesday, June 25, 2003

Haven't been blogging for a while....no excuses I'm afraid!
Went to Durham last weekend for a quick visit. Saw where they filmed Harry Potter. Was going to go down to London this weekend, but with going out the tonight and tomorrow night, finances won't be looking too healthy!

Friday, June 20, 2003

No wonder I'm a vegetarian.

Thursday, June 19, 2003

Itchy feet have struck again. Not ready to going back, but really need to move on from here. The oh-so-familiar Dilema...

Tuesday, June 17, 2003

Photos of my niece Felicity. She's so gorgeous....must take after her auntie....

Must co-ordinate our arrival this weekend in Durham (want to see Durham castle) with the televised TWO evictions this Friday night on Big Brother

Now I know how they make mushy peas. Yet to actually taste... the color and consistency are really not appealing...

Monday, June 16, 2003

"If I didn't have a dicky ticker I would have wacked her one"
Just for you Lou - Alf Steward sayings - so you can speak Oztralian...

Congratulations to Mo and partner on the birth of their son Thomas Robert.

Thursday, June 12, 2003

If David and Courtney can do it without feeling embarrassed, then so can I .....

I get knocked down and get up again - Chumbawamba are from Leeds....

I shouldn't laugh, but this photo cracks me up! Hopefully they will pull this out at their 21st birthday!

The Androids have just announced their UK tour dates for this month...

Monday, June 09, 2003

As Homer would say: "Stupid Pollen" - my eyes are so itchy....

Weekend was good. Tom came up from London. Caught up with Johnny & others who I haven't seen for a while. Time out from socialising for a bit for me, have not had a lazy weekend in the past few months...

The last of my SPAIN PHOTOS. I need another holiday...

PHOTOS from my visit down to "Milk and Beans" (Milton Keynes) to see Tony last weekend. Was a good laugh!

Thursday, June 05, 2003

"There's no place like home!" Iain, if you send me a baby photo like this, of course it is going to end up on the blog.... those shoes crack me up!!

The NHS wasting money on meaningless jobs? Really? I hope they weren't referring to me....

Saddam Hussein's daughters are planning to move to Leeds. That's really not fair, what did they do wrong? :)

I watched this programme last night on television (embarassingly, I really enjoyed it....)

Wednesday, June 04, 2003

"You gotta see the baby!" Finally received photos of my niece (will link photos at a later date). Wish I could be in Australia, just for one day....

Justine has been nominated for eviction! Perhaps the idea of the Big Brother Sweepstake wasn't such a good one, especially if I'm going to be kicked out in week 2....

Tuesday, June 03, 2003

Travelled down to Milton Keynes (Milk and Beans) this weekend to see Tony (Toe Knee Chest-Nut). Photos posted by end of week (including the rest of my Spain pics). Yet to receive photos of my new niece Felicity (cannot wait to finally see her), but will hopefully post soon.

Welcome to the world

Felicity Alisha

Born 4:40am (Sydney time) weighing 9 pounds 12 ounces. I am finally an aunt - and the countdown is over!!!! Congratulations to Brad and Jacquelyn.

Felicity is a Gemini. Gemini is the third Sign of the Zodiac, and those born under this Sign will be quick to tell you all about it. This is because they love to talk...(more) Oh no....

Banana Boat

Well, what a week! Left last Sunday for Malaga (Costa Del Sol) in the south of Spain. We stayed at Iain's parents villa in Mijas. Plane was delayed by a couple of hours which didn't impress me too much as I had to get up at 4:30am.

I shared the beginning of my holiday alongside English tourists and their ghetto blasters, who I secretly named "Dougie" (as in the line from Shirley Valentine). We were greeted by Helen and Gareth displaying a 'You're Late' sign printed on a paper shopping bag with a picture of a half dressed man.

One of the best restaurants we ate at in Funky-rola (Fuengirola) was Meson El Candil. Unbelievable food. Although the snails freaked me out!

The vacation consisted of ;
Lots of reading - Michael J Fox and What Should I do with my Life? (thanks to recommendation from Mark) Tom took it upon himself to read a chapter whenever I put the book down!
Me avoiding my jigsaw responsibilities.
My fellow holiday makers understanding the delights of a lunchtime Shandy (half lager, half lemonade).
A LOT of laughter.
Attempting to get sunburnt (European sun very different from Australian sun).
Climbing the horrid "Jackass" hill back to the villa - not fun after a few drinks.
Snake Bag - good for scaring Helen.
ANGEL of the North / Slapper of the south.
Speed dating - sorry Vinnie.
Connect 4.
Aqua handstands.
Tight rope walking
Window peeing in the pool (hope you guys were joking….)
Pablo, Carlos and Hulio
Jugs
Waving at Gareth's parents
Glasgow Boys
Hello...you...
Finding the lighter...
God bless you (my attempt at becoming a nun).
False accusations - Vinnie's glasses at the bottom of the pool. I SWEAR it wasn't me...(guilty til proven innocent??)
Crisp/Chips and cheese roll - Spanish tradition?
The Muppets theme tune
Pole dancing
Poetry
Squash plant
"You're meessing with my braain" - quote from Michael J Fox book
I can find anything....!!
Small lobster
Big Beer
Big Brother 4 sweepstake - go Justine!
You have been evicted!!

POEMS
Vinnie
Vinnie went swimming in the sea
What a disaster that turned out to be.
He got swept by a wave,
Iain was unable to save.
There was no lifeboat,
Boy, bet he wishes he wore his coat.

Po (Teletubbies)
There once was a boy called Tom
Who stayed in the sun too long.
At TV screen appeared on his tummy,
And we all thought it was very funny!

Leesa
There once was a girl called Leesa
Who really was a bit of a teaser,
She got out her jugs
And scared all the bugs
And pissed off her room mate Louisa!

I want to go back - rainy Leeds really isn't the same! Straight back to my cell phone and laptop though...oh, and Big Brother! Photos should be posted by the end of the week. A few amusing ones were taken...

Countdown still continuing - hopefully only a few more days to go...

Wednesday, May 21, 2003

In Spain, having a brilliant time. Will post when I return.

Countdown still continuing!!

Sunday, May 18, 2003

Sitting at the airport waiting to fly to Malaga. Twenty six degrees - at least I can put away the fake tan for a week....

No more days to go!! Countdown over, but still yet to hear any news....

Thursday, May 15, 2003

You are what you smell. Must remember to pick up 50 litres of duty-free perfume while in Spain & throw away carrot sticks...

3 Days to go.....(not sure how accurate this countdown is turning out to be...)

Tuesday, May 13, 2003

A friend called me last night from Vancouver. I had just finished reading and was half asleep at the time. Didn't remember about the phone call until mid morning, and even then thought it was a dream. Needed to check the list of my incoming calls to confirm my suspicion! Was very weird!

A child named Saddam SARS?? What were the parents thinking?

Scared of a little competition?

5 Days to go..... (see Brad, I haven't forgotten - just as excited!)

Monday, May 12, 2003

This time next week I will be sitting on a beach in Malaga reading Lucky Man (Gill's holiday gift). I need some sun....
Email me if you would like a postcard.

Have added some new photos. Mainly of Amsterdam and when I went down to London.

Why spend your holidays abroad? We observed this family's day out at the beach(?) Dad is kicking back like its the Mediterranean!

Friday, May 09, 2003

Today has started as a weird day... people from my past trying to get into contact with me, including my mum actually phoning me .....??

The Androids are apparently playing in Nottingham the night before Kelly Osbourne. Don't think I will be hanging around for the following night...

9 Days to go....

Thursday, May 08, 2003

10 Days to go....

Wednesday, May 07, 2003

My excursion to the doctors has resulted in a bright white plaster which should ensure maximum sympathy. Thankfully, no tears or amputation....

11 Days to go....

Tuesday, May 06, 2003

Cut my finger rather severely yesterday - typing is now difficult. I wasn't brave enough to take the plasters off this morning, although I did try for about ten minutes. Think there is about seven plasters holding my finger together (making it look HUGE). No way am I brave enough to have a doctor look at it - too afraid it may need stiches....

On the brightside, weekend was great. Went down to London on Saturday. Drove to Southend in Gill's new MG convertible (roof HAD to be down - even in pouring rain I would have insisted) for lunch - weather was so good I'm actually a little sunburnt. Realised I hadn't seen the ocean for 8 months.... Retail therapy took place yesterday and before I realised it, it was all over. Even long weekends aren't long enough nowadays....

12 Days to Go....

Friday, May 02, 2003

I wonder how many layers of fake tan I can apply before people start commenting? Was looking a little orange yesterday and nobody said a thing .... "what do you think will come of that? I don't like the look of it..." (too much Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in my youth...)

"You know your bees wax? Why don't you mind it?" Kath to Kel. (From Kath and Kim)

16 Days to Go....

Thursday, May 01, 2003

Another reality television show, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here 2, has just started. Attempted to watch it last night during the challenge featuring rodents. I failed....(even looking at this article makes me feel unwell....)

17 Days to Go....

Monday, April 28, 2003

Leesa and fake tan do NOT go together.... hopefully my feet return to "normal" before I go on holiday....

Thursday, April 24, 2003

You say potato I say potato?? The old Chips/Crisps debate.

Charles Ingram was guilty as charged! An appeal would be a waste of money, half the country has watched the programme and the majority have agreed with the jury.

Stop the Pigeon!

Wednesday, April 23, 2003

The Brits never seem to have any luck while travelling in Australia as yet another "accident" is reported.

Tuesday, April 22, 2003

I will be an Auntie in 3.5 weeks. I will also be kicking back on a beach in Spain around that time.....

Watched the cheating episode of UK's Who Wants to be a Millionaire - A Major Fraud last night. One of the programme's sponsors was a cough medicine company....

The Androids are travelling to the England! Currently unable to find out if they are playing any live shows....

Evel Knievel : The Rock Opera. Are they serious??!!

Thursday, April 17, 2003

I hate having continually to write letters to get money that belongs to ME, I hate Inland Revenue, I hate Pension Schemes, I hate Banks and I HATE being put on hold.... surely all this stress is a good excuse for a couple of G&Ts this evening!!

My sweet Saffa-Nick just called me all the way from Johannesburg....I miss our Saturday afternoons of playing Crash Team Racing. "Oblagah!"

Hoo's the Toon gannin?

I know a few people sometimes have trouble understanding some of the sayings I use so here is a guide! (swiped from AGB.) Just found a site to help with Geordie sayings. At least now my house mate and I will be able to have a conversation...
Flights to Amsterdam this weekend £10. Doh! Wish now I had not have purchased my ticket to London, so tempted to go away this weekend....

Tuesday, April 15, 2003

Will be heading down to London early May, thinking about seeing Michael Richards ("he's a loathsome offensive brute, yet I can't look away") in Arsenic and Old Lace.

For the Easter weekend it looks like it will be decent weather. 26 degrees celsius was described by my work colleague as "scorching"......

Oh no, please no, anything but that.......

Watching the news this morning on television, there was a doubt whether moderate exercise lowers your chances of heart disease. In light of this, my house mate suggested I stop my routine of fruit for breakfast and walking to & from work, and instead eat a fry-up and catch a cab every morning....
And yet in other studies, they claim; Watching football 'cuts heart deaths'. Oh please....

Monday, April 14, 2003

Eddie McGuire hosting the 2003 Logie Awards. Georgie Parker nominated for about every possible award. All we need now is Lisa McCune to make a tv come back (have no idea what she is starring in nowadays?!), perhaps an up-beat number from Rhonda Burchmore, an international guest who has no idea whats going on, the latest soap-actress turned pop-star promoting their latest song, an AFL footballer thrown in somewhere, Darryl Somers/Bert Newton receiving a lifetime acheivement award, and there we have Australian television rolled into one programme.....

Friday, April 11, 2003

Reminder: Be nice to your house mates....

A friend is attempting to convince me to go out for G&Ts tonight and is holding my new laptop ransom.....I am determined not to fall for his evil ploy, but I really want my computer....

AMSTERDAM 2003 PHOTOS!

So much easier to have the photos put onto CD for a few pounds extra rather than scanning them!

Where is an elephant when you need one?

Have made the decision not to go to the 2003 Leeds Music Festival this year. Would like to see Metallica, Blur and The Datsuns, but cannot justify the £100.00 ticket...

While watching television last night, my house mate made the comment about an 18 year old actress's aged appearance, "She's had a hard paper round".....

Tuesday, April 08, 2003

Tony Hawk interview. I miss Playstation...

Hopefully no one will read this before they receive their postcard from Amsterdam but.... we wrote the postcards in Dutch by copying random sentences from a local newspaper. I think people have a right to know about Sunday trading hours & cheap medical insurance in Holland......

Gill and Simon have just purchased a MGF (soft top). Perhaps Gillian and I can be Thelma & Louise when we go to Dublin!

Another miracle coma recovery.

AMSTERDAM

POEM BY THE "HILARIOUS" SACO
Rozen Verwelken
Scheper vergaan
Maer drinke wef Leesa
bljft altijd bestaan.....
(gee, thanks, I think.....)
Dank voar je bebonblokjes! (your welcome!)

Went to the a few bars around the Red Light District both Friday and Saturday nights. Ventured to the Van Gogh Museum on the Sunday. A lot of walking, but unfortunately no much-needed clothes shopping.

Other highlights included; "The only way is up", Asking of the time in Dutch, Taking money from strippers, throw a shrimp on the barbie. It was a tiring, but brilliant weekend!!

Tried a few new drinks over the weekend (Note to self: Duvel is a very strong beer, be aware...) , but they weren't serving Duck's Nut Amber Ale. Only in Australia!

Friday, April 04, 2003

Russell Crowe is getting married. Doh! Another one to cross off my list....

What does it mean when I dream (have a nightmare?) that I am a staff member in E4's reality TV programme, The Salon?

What? You got to go there? You don't say...For you Mezza...I know!....

Thursday, April 03, 2003

You are right Marlas, this is the Dullest Blog in the World!! And I thought mine was bad....

Although I have taken steps in order to resolve the "problem", there doesn't seem to be any chance of a positive outcome at this point in time. Guess there is only so much I can do....(Update - solution seems imminent. If only the ending of the war was this easy.)

David Beckham vs Justin Timberlake? Surely that isn't a competition. Very few people (males included) would kick Mr Beckham out of bed. Not many men could pull off his recent look... but for some reason, he just seems to get better and better!

Another interview with Tim Henwood from the Androids. Apparently the bands song "Do it with Madonna" is being played here in the UK on radio. I'm sure the Rooster would be impressed (DM's ridiculous rooster noise in between songs made me laugh! And she got away with it for years!!).

Australian health authority have warned Australians not to travel to a number of countries including Canada due to SARS.

I vote for bringing back the cast that was going to perform in the 2001 production of HAIR Australia. I would be back so fast to see Jon Stevens perform.....

Leave for Amsterdam tomorrow afternoon. Really looking forward to getting away for a few days. Need a break....

Tuesday, April 01, 2003

I've put my foot in it. I caused an unnecessery problem. I have just under seven weeks to resolve it. Damn PMT, damn you!

Friday, March 28, 2003

I wouldn't dare disobey the instructions on the back of my pack of Lockets; "Do not exceed in any 24 hours 3 packs for adults". Would no longer be worried about my sore throat, more about the fact that either my teeth would be falling out or I would be as high as a kite on sugar....

Wednesday, March 26, 2003

My new laptop arrives soon! Yeah!!

Tuesday, March 25, 2003

Blog being written IN Iraq.

The Espy. My favourite bar/pub in Melbourne.

I knew I recognised "Molly", Ross & Rachel's new nanny in Friends. She is played by Melissa George (Angel) from Home and Away. (she was also in the film Sugar and Spice)

Monday, March 24, 2003

Alanis Morisette Song Generator. Rather amusing....

The 2003 Melbourne Comedy Festival starts in three days.

This weekend consisted of; prince charming, cute panadas, Patterson's produce, Prawn cracker, Quicksilver/Argentina, muscles at the market, beachball, "so commercially trendy", Sodastream, "I only have eyes for you.....oh, and Gill".

Text message received from Tom on Saturday morning was weird. Neither of us have any idea what I actually wrote late on the Friday night for his reply to be "is it because she is black?"

Friday, March 21, 2003

Just admitted to a friend back in Australia, that yes, I have been suckered in by the soap Eastenders. I avoided it for so long, but am now a regular viewer...... Like to see how many times in a week Peggy can say to Phil "You're a Mitchell...."

Landlord has decided he is going to buy a computer this weekend. That means I will have 24 hour access to the internet. When will I find time to sleep?

Gillian will be arriving from London in two hours. Bring on the weekend!!

Thursday, March 20, 2003

With threats of terrorist attacks, it does scare me that Menwith Hill US Spy station which is located near Harrogate, is only about half an hour away from Leeds. Apparently the world's largest spy base.

A glamourous assistant? How hard could that be? Perhaps its time for a career change.

Not sure how this mornings anti-war protest actually helped the cause?? How has this helped anyone??

I want to see Ellen Degeneres live. Does anyone want to fly me over to Vancouver just for one night??

Monday, March 17, 2003

While watching Saturday morning television, Melbourne band The Androids video clip Do it with Madonna came on. Was very impressed to see Tim Henwood (from Superman/Plasticene/Superjesus/Nick Baker) and LOVED the song.

Robbie William's new video clip,Come Undone, I cannot watch. The mice really freak me out....

Friday, March 14, 2003

Dress Down/Casual day at work has resulted in some people attending work in their pyjamas. Wish I had thought of that....

Thursday, March 13, 2003

Images of Melbourne. Thought Marlas would appreciate these....

My flatmates' impersonations of Chris Tarrant's poker face while he hosts Who Wants to be a Millionaire as described during the trial of one of the contestants, was rather amusing last night.

Tuesday, March 11, 2003

After avoiding knowing for the past six months the sex of my brother's baby, someone has accidently told me in an email. Being so far away from my family, and not being there for the birth, that was going to be my suprise when the baby arrives in May.........not happy Jan (I remember way too many commercials).....

Friday, March 07, 2003

Australia Grand Prix this weekend. Bring it on!

Wednesday, March 05, 2003

"Pay £1.90 for a bottle of water? I'd drink out of the toilet before I did that!" Said with a posh Harrogate accent - Anonymous 2003

Was just reminded by a high school friend about our Cheese and Bacon Balls Competition (vegetarian, not even bacon flavouring). I could fit around 20 in my mouth at once - I am up for a rechallenge on my return!

I am in an exceptionally good mood. Not sure if its due to finally letting go of an on-going problem; the fact I am exercising again on a regular basis; or the weather - the end of the coldness, sun is shining, and I won't have to see winter again for another 18 months!

I'm not sure what the result of this quiz is saying....

Bert & Ernie
Bert & Ernie's Gay Love Affair

Look, everyone knows you two are lovebirds. Why
not do the brave thing and admit it to the
world? The times are kinder nowadays. There
may be the odd ultraconservative bigwig or
overprotective mom, but so what? Piss on 'em.
Come on out of the closet. It's ok.

Which Sesame Street Muppet's Dark Secret Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Tuesday, March 04, 2003

Shrove Tuesday. You will need; flour, eggs, butter, milk, salt. Take one Mr Sinclair, place him in the kitchen, and there you have it - pancakes. Easy!

The button has fallen off my work pants/trousers. I can't seem to find a safety pin anywhere. Lets just hope there is no Funniest Home Video moment involving me on the way home tonight....

Thursday, February 27, 2003

Greece 3? Don't think I'm that keen on the idea. Although, I was one of the few people who actually liked Greece 2. "I want a co-ol-ol-ol rider"
"Who's that guy?"
"Reproduction"

A Ford Falcon Four-wheel drive? Offroad? I doubt it - another useless 4WD.

Wednesday, February 26, 2003

Eric Bana (oh, and Brad Pitt) are going to be in London in April shooting Troy. Would love for Eric to do some stand-up while he was here - he is such a funny man.

I have Ainslie's "Keep It A Secret" in my head. I must stop being sucked in by the rejects of reality tv shows....

A beer festival in Leeds? Sounds dodgy. How many tickets should I get??

Sunday, February 23, 2003

Finally AN ONLINE PHOTO ALBUM! Photos vary - everywhere from Melbourne to Leeds to London to Vancouver to Greece etc. In no particular order, and perhaps not of the best scanning quality, but at least I've finally posted some of them!

Friday, February 21, 2003

I despise the Burberry look. It is hideously, just awful....

Thursday, February 20, 2003

A friend and I are looking into getting tickets for V2003 (in Essex) - headline acts are Coldplay and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Rumours of David Gray and Foo Fighters playing amongst others. Been a while since I've been to an outdoor concert....

Someone was directed to my site by the words "detox cheesecake". Is there such a thing? Mmmmmm, donuts cheesecake....Bring it on!

Tuesday, February 18, 2003

Monday, February 17, 2003

Glen Waverley, the suburb where I grew up and where my parents still live. Apparently Melbourne's hottest suburb right now....

I had a Valentine's Day meal cooked for me on Friday night, including heart-shaped bread. Damn the fact he likes boys.....

We went to Sheffield in South Yorkshire on Saturday. Not much sight-seeing apart from the inside of a couple of pubs....

Watched highlights from the Melbourne Comedy festival 2001 & 2002 last night on cable. Had the giggles when Jimeion started a song "don't pull your tracksuit pants up too high because it doesn't look good..."(It was the Irish accent that did it for me....)

Friday, February 14, 2003

Marina, you are too good to be true! (this story makes me laugh!). Happy 5th (!) birthday!
Jen, Happy Birthday. I cannot believe that you will be a married woman tomorrow. Have a wonderful Wedding Day. (Damn this travelling bug - I really wish I was there to celebrate the day with you...as the English say, "I'm gutted"....).

Thank goodness its Friday. I still can't believe "they" tricked us by putting an extra work day in this week. And NO ONE said anything!! They all just carried on like we have two Wednesdays in every week. Please! I have caught onto their cunning plan....

Thursday, February 13, 2003

Enjoyed watching the football last night (Soccer - Marla: "shouvlaki with garlic shauce"). Australia vs. England 3-1 win to Australia. I realise there are a few people avoiding me today....

Australians warned to take care in UK - oh great....

Wednesday, February 12, 2003

I know I might be pushing it to receive this for Valentine's Day, but Christmas would be fine....

Have been thinking about a book I read during late primary school called Z for Zachariah by Robert O'Brien; story involves the two survivors in a valley after nuclear war. With Americans being warned to stock provisions, this book came to mind. Remember it being rather frightening.

Monday, February 10, 2003

I didn't get around to scanning any pics this weekend. I needed a day of "rest" after Saturday night.
Iain gave me my belated birthday present on Saturday night. A jigsaw of a picture of Gill, Lou and myself. Too funny!

Valentines Day for the vindictive....I like it, I like it a lot.

Attempts to redevelop the Espy. This story seems to be going on for years and years...

Friday, February 07, 2003

Watch this space - I will finally be posting photographs to this site in the next few days.

Saturday night is New Zealand night over at Johnny's. Not sure what is on the menu, although I did hear some rumours of Burger Rings being present....

Just found review of Australian chips/crisps. Craving Cheezels now....

Wednesday, February 05, 2003

I have that horrible feeling again.....

Tuesday, February 04, 2003

Watched the ITV Michael Jackson Special on television last night. He is a weird, weird man....
Went across the street last night to purchase an evening paper. I must admit that there was an arm flapping incident as i tried to enter the store - very embarassing, luckily no one was around. Was very icy out.
An article I found in The Guardian today relating to Blogs.

Friday, January 31, 2003

Am intrigued by the countdown in Clayton's blog.... Only 23 days until the mystery is revealed....

Thursday, January 30, 2003

Note to self - Don't go visiting any zoos while in Spain....

Watched a Leeds vs. Chelsea football (soccer) game last night on television. (Don't tell anyone, but I actually really enjoyed it....)

Why oh why won't it snow? It's yet to reach anything above 0 degrees today, but the sun continues to shine. Enough with the sun, I want snow!

Wednesday, January 29, 2003

Its just hit me that one of my very best friends is getting married in 18 days and I'm not going to be there. Was asked to be bridesmaid a few years ago when she first was engaged. I'm disappointed that I can't make it back there for her special day.....

I have another friend who insists that I get married before she turns 30 because she doesn't believe bridesmaids should wear Apricot Taffeta(or baby-blue, still arguing over color) after 30 years of age. I tend to disagree.....

Tuesday, January 28, 2003

Its going to be hot in the city tonight! Melbourne - high of 44.1 degrees the other day and tonight not dropping below 35 degrees until after 2am.....

Fire at Mount Waverley S.C. - getting a little too close to home....I cannot remember fires being this bad in Victoria for years.

The Prince Pat is closing! Bob Frankin remembers the comedy venue: "Once I went through a small door in the wall there and found myself in another world identical to our own - except that all the seagulls wore hats."

Saturday, January 25, 2003

43.9 degrees(???!!!) in Melbourne. I am beginning to appreciate a pleasant 9 degrees....

Grenade found at Albert Park Lake??!! What the devil?

The Dockic's are to claim aslyum during Wimbeldon? Poor Britain.

Happy 3rd Birthday Baby(?) Lo Lo!

Really looking forward to seeing Eric Bana as "The Incredible Hulk" - to be released later this year.

So glad I didn't stay in London this weekend as a train's motor "fell off" while underground on The Tube. I could not think of a more terrifying experience...

Tuesday, January 21, 2003

Recycling in Leeds, and around the rest of the country for that matter, is basically not existent. We are trying to make our house as environmentally friendly as possible, but it is such a challenge to find any decent recycling facilities....

Have a minor eye infection in my left eye. Want to wear an eye patch - freak myself out when I look in the mirror, feel sorry for my work colleagues as I look rather awful........Advice from a friend : "If you do lose your eye, remember: in the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Wise, and indeed comforting, words I'm sure you'll agree." Making me feel so much better....

Monday, January 20, 2003

Yes, its true, I had a fantastic long weekend in London.
Unfortunately I have no BodyWorlds Exhibition stories to tell - admission line was huge, probably a minimum two and a half hour wait. As much as I was looking forward to it, think it may have freaked me out a little - check this out.

"That man really likes bananas", "look at the fat kid run" - Gillian 2003.

Thursday I caught up with Danielle (and Maria with little Edward), then went out with Gill's work colleagues for dinner and a drink. Friday I met Josh and Danielle in Nottinghill (not going to mention that I saw where Robbie Williams lives and had a very lucky Matt Day sighting), then out for Pad Thai and drinks at Waxy's. Saturday night we went to a boat party on the Queen Mary. Great people meeting night. Sunday Gill, Josh, Stu and I spent the day in town before catching up with Tom later in the afternoon. Caught up with Iain for ten minutes as he arrived in London and as I was leaving! Expensive, but fun weekend.

Canadian friend has asked me to look out for Coronation Street Merchandise. How cheesy is this alarm clock???

Wednesday, January 15, 2003

I took it upon myself to play Air Guitar for everyone on Christmas day.
Check out "What his air guitar technique tells you about him" - found in the booklet that accompanied this rather addictive instrument.

Tuesday, January 14, 2003

Only one day left of work this week. Worked out last night I have had five days off in the past 12 months; really need some time away from work. The obvious(?) choice for me is of course to spend these days relaxing down in London. Ohhhh, I really don't like London... Instead I could have taken off to Portugal, Turkey or Spain for the amount of money I'm going to spend this weekend.

On the bright side, I heard that Ricky Gervais from the BBC show The Office may be doing a show in London. Would love to see him live. ("You're simply the best" motivational lecture was extremely funny....).

Not sure if "Australia Day" is the day we should be taking pride in Australia. The 26th of January was a very sad day in our country's history. Not a day of celebration.

Three day work week. Then a very expensive four days in London....

Going out to Greenwich on Thursday with Dan; looking forward to having a good "time"...(with that sort of attempt at humour, someone is proving to be in great need of a holiday....)

This time next week I will be in London with one of my best friends from high school that I haven't seen in 12 months. Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I'm actually looking forward to going to London...

Nellie seems to have picked up her bat & ball and decided to go home....No more Nellie blogging??

I received both of the Coldplay albums for my birthday from my girls. Very pointed. The Scientist will be in my head all day....

And I received one of the two phone calls I was waiting for.

Thank goodness its over for another year!
(BTW : My blog turns one year old today!)

Dave is hilarious. Perhaps I can hang out with him when I'm in London next week...

Quote from the weather report last night "this weekend will be warming up, expecting a high of 5 degrees". Are they serious?

It is currently -2 although it is claimed to feel like -6 when wind chill is taken into account here in Leeds. Melbourne today; 35 degrees (it actually hit 40.2 degrees)....We spent the day in York yesterday - it was painfully cold. The solarium is calling....

Hot Buttered Death and Haley's comment - always a good read.

For those of you in detox - have a read of this. Hilarious! May be the oppotunity to start practising while you have time on your hands....

Have a Michael Franti/Spearhead song running through my head...

we got hot wax
and it's cookin' on the griddle
Got the guitar strummin

New Years was a good night - lucky jeans.

Via The Onion quiet amusing -- Man who thought he lost all hope looses additional bit of hope he didn't even know he still had.

Just invited people over for dinner. House looks like a bomb has hit it. Must go home and clean although bed seems like the better option....
