Already Christmas eve?! Catch up with friends tonight, breakfast with another group of friends tomorrow followed by lunch and dinner with the parents and family topped of by a well deserved drink with a couple of friends in the evening! Been invited away to Cape Paterson on the coast for a few days, back to work for a few days and then going to Jan Juc for New Years. Been 12 months between holidays, so a few days here and there down by the beach sounds very appealing indeed…. Bring on the sangria! Wednesday, December 22, 2004
I presuming I'm allowed to write about it now.... very good friends of mine - Tanya and Arthur are expecting a baby in June next year. Very exciting news indeed! Christmas carol CDs should be banned from the office, especially those with karoke versions of “Last Christmas” and “Do they know its Christmas”. Eeeehhh…. I'm not the only one absolutely terrified by mice... Thursday, December 16, 2004

Went to the Corner Hotel yesterday afternoon/evening to see Electric Mary. Jack Jones ex-Southern Sons has certainly changed his look! Never drinking on a 'school night' again.... Thursday, December 02, 2004
Thankfully no Bridget Jones moments at last nights department Christmas party…… Justeen is coming down for my 30th birthday next month. Very excited now!! I'm kind of looking forward to my 30's. Is that wrong? Tuesday, November 30, 2004
Fun-filled, band seeing weekend. Friday night went to see Jon Stevens (ex-Noiseworks/ ex-INXS). Suprised appeareance by Tony Kopa (ex The Truth). Saturday after a little outdoor dining, went down to Ruby's Bar (funky bar in Belgrave) to see Nick Barker. After BBQ on Sunday, went to see Cousin Leonard (with Tom from The Jaynes) and also performing with his band was Adam Thompson. Haven't seen that many bands in one weekend in years! Not sure if I'm allowed to discuss the other news of the weekend..... Thursday, November 25, 2004

Jacinda Barrett (Australia from MTV's The Real World - London)is in the new Bridget Jones - Edge of reason movie. Thursday, November 11, 2004
Feeling unwell After paying for my new car and insurance, my bank account is looking a little unhealthy. Finally bought the car I’ve been planning on for the past three years. Its lovely and actually has a radio/CD player – Not the hand-held radio that currently sits on the passenger seat and often runs out of battery.... Monday, November 08, 2004

Not an ideal start to a Friday morning – Firedrill morning. A walk down a stairwell from the fourteenth floor followed by standing out in the rain. Day can only get better…? Hopefully test driving a couple of cars tomorrow. Must keep away from the new Hummer (H3) - too scared I will fall in love.... Another mouse hater.... How cute is my niece.. (story as told by my sister in law)… My brother went to go out to the car this morning to go to day care. Felicity (niece aged 18 months) went out the door with him, started to go down the steps. When Brad got to the car he noticed that she had gone back inside. The reason.... he had forgotten her bag, so she went back to get it! Monday, October 25, 2004

"I'd like to thank God but I can't because rock'n'roll is the devil's music and he writes the best tunes." Cameron Muncey - Jet guitarist at last night's ARIA awards. Such rock stars... Kylie and Jason together again?? Thursday, October 14, 2004
After four(?) years of constantly talking about it from opposite sides of the world, Jacqui and I finally sat down to a meal at the Veggie Bar last night. Talk of the hairstyle Family Feud’s Rob Brough bought tears to my eyes... The Soupy Toasterson Show. Wednesday, October 13, 2004
I’m starting to suffer from Vancouver withdrawals (think it could be due to missing out on the pumpkin pie last weekend). Been nearly 12 months since I was there and am yet to set a date to travel next year…. Tuesday, October 12, 2004

Tripod performed the X-BOX song on Rove last night…. Heard numerous times, but the lyrics still make me laugh!!….. Tripod: Doo doo, doo doo, doodoo doodoo Scod: Baby Tripod: Gonna make you happy tonight Gatesy & Yon: Gonna make you happy tonight Scod: Oh sugar Tripod: Give my love to you, oh baby, gonna make you feel so right Gatesy & Yon: Gonna make you, make you happy, oh baby, gonna make you feel so right Tripod: Spend some time with you, do the things you want me to Scod: Gonna make love Gatesy & Yon: Gonna make some sweet, sweet love, sugar Tripod: So get ready, ohh get ready, get ready Scod: Get ready for lovin’ Tripod: Before we get down to love Gatesy & Yon: Before we get down Scod: I’ve just got to finish this level Gatesy & Yon: Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo, doo doo Scod: You see I got a high score tonight Tripod: And I just want to save my game Gatesy & Yon: Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo, doo doo Scod: We’ll I’ll be with you in a minute, sweet darling, baby, honey Tripod: I love how you dance for me Scod: Oh la la la la Gatesy & Yon: Could you move to the left honey, Scod: I just can’t see the tv Gatesy & Yon: Doo doo, doo doo, doo doo, doo doo Tripod: Baby I just can’t wait until we start Scod: Its just that the save points are quite a way apart…. Oh no, I've discovered Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on Playstation 2. This is not good, this is not good at all... Friday, October 01, 2004
Was reminded this morning that it was exactly 1 year ago to the day that I left England – and what a evening that was!! Seems like only yesterday, but at the same time a lifetime ago… Think I could be suffering from Hayfever today – have only been suffering the effects of hayfever since I started living in England. My nose is extremely itchy – looked up on the internet some folklore explanations…. “An itch in the nose is, in the Highlands, considered the precursor of a stranger or letter. Ibid.. In Yorkshire it is sensibly said that the sufferer is to be kissed, cursed, or blessed.” Wonder which category I fall into…. Wednesday, September 29, 2004

Thanks to Jay, Sonya and Express Post, I am now in possession of an outfit to wear to Tanya and Arthur’s wedding this weekend. The original outfit I had purchased suffered from a “wardrobe malfunction”. No, there was no exposure, just the beads were falling off the top I had originally purchased. Saco and Ingrid are also getting married this weekend in Holland. Wish I could have attended both weddings, but unable to due to timing....oh, and finances... Wednesday, September 22, 2004
Everybody has gone football mad! I’m sure it wasn’t this bad before I went away, but I have had 5 invites to different BBQs/functions involving the watching of the Australian Football League grand final. Thankfully Tanya and Arthur have planned their wedding for the same day. Some relief from the football mania!! Monday, September 20, 2004
Was reminiscing of a story from last weekend this morning on the way to work. Had to hold back the giggles. While cleaning up on the Sunday morning after the cocktail party at Jay’s parents place, we were putting glasses etc. back on the bar. Someone found a brown leather box (the box looked like it could have held cremation remains) and had a peek inside. After smelling it, decided it was chocolate, a few people had a taste test. Brett was quick to yell across the room “Stop you're eating grandpa!!” Perhaps you just had to be there…. - - - I will do everything in my power to avoid the television tonight – the Brownlow Cup is on. It would have to be the most boring television program of all time. Not even going to risk going to the gym just in case it’s on there…. Monday, September 13, 2004
One for Saco; as overheard on the flight back to Melbourne last night: Passenger one referring to the turbulence “this flight is a bit bloody rough” Passenger two in response “yeah, its as rough as guts”. Sometimes I am embarrassed by the general public.... Congratulations to Johnny and Robyn on the birth of their daughter Kiara. Thursday, September 09, 2004

Think I’m going to regret not wearing in my new shoes. Party this weekend in Sydney and I’ve worn them for a total of 10 minutes in the house…. Sunday, September 05, 2004
The Band in a Bubble - Regurgitator. Went for a look-see on Friday night - about as interesting as David Blaine's stunt, but not by much.... (both events are rather boring, but place anyone in a glass box and I’m sure to be there!!!) Friday, September 03, 2004
Driving to work this morning, I saw petrol on sale for 109.9 cents per litre – ridiculous!! (I’m sure when I re-read this a year from now, I’ll be thinking – bargain!!) I want to make a stand and not buy petrol, but I have so much running around to do this weekend, I don’t think I’m going to have any choice…. Thursday, September 02, 2004
In recent weeks I have bought a pair of dress shoes and a new pair of sneakers. I think I am going to have to return them, having tried on again at home, they both seem too small. Friend has comically pointed out that it could be due to the sessions at the gym that I’ve actually built up muscles in my feet. Wonder if there is a Miss Muscle Foot competition in Australia??? Monday, August 30, 2004
The weekend went passed too quickly. On Saturday it reached 23 degrees – spent the day shopping down Bridge Road (although came home empty handed). Attempting to find a few extra accessories for the up and coming cocktail party and wedding I am attending in the next month…. Chocolate cake at work should be banned.... Wednesday, August 25, 2004
I can’t live without my email, but it was lovely to get home from work yesterday to find two hand-written cards that I received unexpectedly from two different friends from opposite sides of the world (and its not even my birthday!). A hand written note does go a long way… Tuesday, August 24, 2004
Was forwarded photos of Saffa Nick’s recent return visit to the UK, where he caught up with a number of people I used to hang out with. I miss certain parts of the life I had for two years while living in Yorkshire, but then I looked out the window to a sunny winter morning across to the bay and don’t regret leaving England. Would be nice to go back for a holiday, numerous reasons why I would never move back there, but I definitely don’t want to live far from the sea again…. Congratulations to Kerri and Rob on their engagement! (Just hope you aren't rushing into it - after 7 years together!!) Monday, August 23, 2004
Rumour has it that a certain concert will take place later this year in Sydney - invite only. Want to be entertained - need to get my hands on a golden ticket... Friday, August 20, 2004
After work last night, went out to Federation Square for a couple of drinks. Although rather striking architecture for Melbourne, this recently created area has a great atmosphere about it. The square could well become my regular socialising venue(/s) – especially during summer. Melbourne trio, Regurgitator (great website by the way) are to become the “band in the bubble” next month. They will do a “David Blaine” and live for three weeks in a see-through house (but with food!) and record their album in view of the public in Federation Square. I’m a sucker for blatant publicity and will surely go down there for a look-see!! Tuesday, August 17, 2004
My new boss just used the saying "play it with a straight bat". Not completely sure what that actually means.... Vaughan's thoughts on the opening of the Olympics. I too noticed the large amount of competitors during the opening celebrations to be on their cell phones. Guess this really is 2004. Thursday, August 12, 2004
I.T. helpdesk at work ‘on hold’ music includes themes from the Smurfs, He-man, Gilligan’s island, The Love Boat, Brady Bunch, Chipmunks etc. Have had the theme tune to 'Charles in Charge' in my head for most of the day..... Friday, August 06, 2004
My 15 month old niece is coming down from Sydney this weekend. My sister-in-law warns : "Hope you have your ear plugs ready and your hair cut short and a face protector and body armour.......". What are we letting ourselves in for??? Thursday, August 05, 2004
Not sure if its just a Melbourne thing that I’ve noticed recently, or a world-wide phenomenon, but a large percentage of women feel the need to take two bags to work. Every second lady is carrying a large hand bag and in addition an extra bag which contains anything from lunches to magazines/extra shoes/makeup bag/novel/knitting (and sometimes all of these)! How much do you need to bring with you to get through the day? Marla has renamed the cardboard bag (complete with cool-store brand logo) carried by many women to work as the FELB. Female Executive Lunch Bag. Unlucky Man - a rather funny blog! Rather busy few months coming up – starting with my niece coming down this weekend, a few 30th birthday celebrations, a hens night, a wedding, a trip to Sydney, the races, potential visitor from Holland (woo hoo!), now just have to get Miss Gillian over here and I’ll be very happy indeed!! (guess I should also find a job to pay for all this socialising!) Friday, July 30, 2004

Job hunting is again becoming frustrating. Unable to find any position I really like and that I can see myself in for years to come. Time consuming and rather expensive searching for work! Going to stick with it - hopefully my ideal job is just around the corner….or I could pack up and move to another country – been known to do that before! (Wonder if Jon Stevens or Robbie Williams needs an assistant…..) Monday, July 26, 2004

Was at the gym this morning on the treadmill next to the guy who repeatedly stated "thats another banana gone" ie. he's just walked off the calories contained in a banana.... As Gill would say – that man really likes bananas… Friday, July 09, 2004

Survey results about me from a forwarded email filled out by Jacqui: Q. Do I believe in God? A. You have many Gods. Usually they are holding musical instruments. (Was also reminded of teaching Jacqui the lyrics to songs in the middle of Starfish shows just so she could sing along!) A response from Marla: Q. Would you ever marry me? A. If you were a Canadian citizen I would consider it.. I love the respect I demand from my friends….. Thursday, June 24, 2004
Bevan The Musical Welcome, this is Bevan the Musical. It ís a journey, a celebration of one man's life. The rise, the fall, the rise again of Bevan Addinsal from Young Talent Time. There will be tears, there will be laughter... hopefully... but ultimately this is a tale of triumph, of one man's courage, determination and fashion sense against the odds. And what is a musical without that huge opening number? Oooooooooooooo, I'm searching for a better guy, Whooooooooooo'd look good in a pink jacket with a skinny tie. BEVAN! Must be there, you know he's got to be there, yeah Bevan. I just wanna look at his face... Now, every story has a beginning, just like every rose has a thorn, just like every night has its dawn, just like every cowboy sings it. Okay, we're getting sidetracked here. Now, Bevan was just a normal kid, dreaming of singing, dreaming of dancing, dreaming of not being a normal kid anymore. Then one bright summer's day, a mysterious stranger arrived on Bevan's doorstep with an opportunity of a lifetime. That stranger was Johnny Young, being played today by NoiseWorks' Jon Stevens, who is being played by Gatesy from Tripod. Take Debbie Burn away from me, ‘Cause I can’t use her anymore. She’s getting too old for YTT, Now I’m knocking on Bevan’s door. I…I…I…I’m knock, knock, knockin’ on Bevan’s door, Knock, knock, knockin’ on Bevan’s door. Bevan was an instant hit with the YTT fans. The combination of the blonde tips, the lemon slacks and the high-pitched melodies was a ratings winner. Fame and fortune beckoned, but fame and fortune plays with a young man's head, and the only thing more rapid then a rapid rise is the rapid fall, with the possible exception with the lethal weapon ride at the Hollywood on the Gold Coast. The pressure was on our budding hero, it seemed everyone wanted a slice of Bevan. Oh shining star is rising, Get your slice of Bevan, yeah! For his fans there’s no compromising, Get your slice of Bevan, yeah! It got to the stage where even Bevan's closest friends doubted him. In this next powerful scene, Joey confronts Vince in a dimly lit channel 10 canteen in Nunawading, beside the coke machine. Joey Perroni is played in this scene by Nathan Cavilary, who is being played by Gatesy from Tripod. It was time for the Young Talent Time team to get behind Bevan. It was make or break. It was time for Bevan to find out who his real friends were. The Young Talent Time team voted. It was almost unanimous. Tina Arena voted no, but the rest of them all wanted Bevan. Bevan's future was now assured. Johnny, the line up’s never been worse, So we think Bevan has a place on earth. Johnny, you think maybe Danni comes first, But we think Bevan is a place on earth. Peace was now restored to Channel 10's Young Talent Time, also to earth. Bevan was back, bigger, better and with those lemon slacks he was definitely brighter, then ever before. It was Bevan's time! This has been Bevan the Musical! Wednesday, June 23, 2004
Have the dilema of attending a friend’s 30th in Sydney or a friends hen’s night in Melbourne – both are planned for the same night in September. Wonder if there is enough time to get my pilots license so I can make it to both…… Any suggestions about what I should do? Tuesday, June 22, 2004
Have been invited to the Word Lounge on Thursday night. Apparently Bevan from YTT is performing. I, like most people my age, loved the television program Young Talent Time while growing up... Monday, June 21, 2004
Caught up with Justeen this weekend. Has been two and a half years since we've seen each other. Was a great weekend, but also bought back many memories and reminds me how many people I miss who are living so far away…. Time to win Tattslotto…. Friday, June 18, 2004

Take my photo off the wall If it just won't sing for you 'Cause all that's left has gone away And there's nothing there for you to prove Oh, look what you've done You've made a fool of everyone Oh well, it seems likes such fun Until you lose what you had won Give me back my point of view 'Cause I just can't think for you I can hardly hear you say What should I do, well you choose Oh, look what you've done You've made a fool of everyone Oh well, it seems likes such fun Until you lose what you had won Oh, look what you've done You've made a fool of everyone A fool of everyone A fool of everyone Friday, May 28, 2004

I want to be first to get Momma a drink on her return in a few months….. Jacqui is coming back from Japan in a few months. Very excited. Have amazingly only spent about 12 hours hanging out together in total in the past four/five years. Looking forward to eating (wouldn’t be surprised if somebody is a little snippy) and laughing! Wednesday, May 26, 2004
Oh, the cow in the meadow goes moo, Oh, the cow in the meadow goes moo. Then the farmer hits him on the head and grinds him up, And that's how we get hamburgers. ----Phoebe (singing) from Friends Friday, May 21, 2004
Upon spotting a mouse (they’re following me!) one morning earlier this week, there was a swift move and jump up on the couch (think a silent scream was also involved) - not a drop was spilt from the coffee cup I was holding at the time. It was a fine display of speed and precision. Tuesday, May 18, 2004
This time last year I was in Spain. A crazy fun-filled holiday. The Banana boat, the jugs, the potato crisp rolls, the Spanish dancing in the street and the sunbaking (the fact I had a little bit of a tan, but this May am completely white….) I want to go travelling again…. Why you should never put photos on the web. Boss Quote: Boss: We should start on that report tomorrow. Me: Okay Boss: Can't say I’m looking forward to it Me: Either am I Boss: Then we are sharing. Sharing in the pain. Friday, May 14, 2004

A good friend in high school Glenn Dickie is now the Promo Manager and Victorian A&R rep for Capitol/EMI. Pretty impressive! This photo makes me laugh - he was always very funny! Speaking of EMI, going to see Jet tonight. Should be a good show. Thursday, April 29, 2004

Saturday night ventured out to the parking hell that is Brunswick Street. Dined at the Veggie Bar and then went across the road to the Evelyn to see reggae/fund band Bomba. Has been over 11 years since I first went to see Nicky Bomba play in The Truth (A Truth gig also led to meeting Canadian band The Flu/The Neurotics who were supporting at a show.) Crowded room, enthusiastic audience (or as a friend described them "disciples") and an energetic band. Been a while since I’ve enjoyed a show so much! Friday, April 23, 2004
Just missed a call from Aussie Home Loans. Wonder if there is chance my parents gave them a call and asked them to get in contact with me. Could it be a subtle hint that its time to leave the family nest? Wednesday, April 21, 2004
The mayor of Vancouver is currently visiting Melbourne. Read in the paper and heard on the radio this morning Cr Campbell talking about pan-handlers (beggars) in Melbourne. Was an interesting observation to make as I have never noticed Melbourne as having a problem with people begging. While living in Vancouver I remember being asked every morning by at least four people in the 10 minute walk to the station for change. That said, I still miss Vancouver.... Friend who just went into labour an hour or so ago with her first child is complaining that the penicillin shot she just got in her arm was very painful. I don’t think she truly knows what she’s in for over the next few hours…. Tuesday, April 13, 2004
Travelled up to Sydney this weekend. Made fun a few weeks ago about a colleagues anticipation of seeing the big pineapple etc. I was lucky(?) enough to see The Big Merino on my travels. Kind of freaky if you ask me.... Friday, April 02, 2004
There are often sightings, I'm not denying that, but to see this many mullets in the office in one day is highly unusual...... Monday, March 29, 2004
Ventured out on Saturday night to enjoy some shows they are a part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival. Saw Lano & Woodley and then a dash to another theatre to see The Four Noels. Daniel Kitson was MC for a show later at the festival club. No Bob Franklin spotting took place….. Thursday, March 25, 2004
My head feels like its about to explode. Been a busy day. Head feels kind of like that one Saturday when I played a little too much Playstation 2. Could barely talk at the end of my very long session (not going to mention how long - little embarrassed about my PS2 addiction sometimes). Headache is nothing that a little knitting won't solve. Yes, back on the knitting spree. I have also coloured my hair - basically black (still get a shock when I look in the mirror). Iain has named me the Knitting Goth..... Wednesday, March 17, 2004
Craving an afternoon in The Original Oak beer garden. I guess that I'm just missing Johnny on St Patrick's day. Nearly Guiness o'clock..... Just found this article in today's newspaper about an old friend. Still upsets me..... Friday, March 12, 2004
Last night, after watching the first half of Average Joe, I decided to go to bed and to record the rest of the program. I discouraged myself from watching the grand finale of Melana choosing her beau this morning and instead decided to wait until this evening to watch the final episode. Then, on the way to work on the train, I overhead people talking about the show and the outcome. There should be a law against it!! I was not happy!! That was until a few minutes ago, Adam returns! Then no more reality television for me.... Wednesday, March 10, 2004
The excitement around the office can hardly be contained by a colleague soon to be off on holiday. On the agenda, a visit to The Big Pineapple and The Big Banana.... Bryan McFadden and Robbie Williams really should not be compared! Friday, March 05, 2004
True story as overheard recently in a booze bus by a friend: Officer: I’m afraid you are over the legal limit, you are going to loose your license. Drink Driver: Loose my license? But I need to drive to work. You can’t do this! What am I going to do with my car? Officer: You could sell it. DD: I can’t sell it, its not road worthy. (Great thing to say when you’ve just been pulled over for drink driving….) DD finished the interview and then proceeded to combat roll out of the booze bus…. A different friend has recently found work with the family of an internationally renowned actor. I'm not going to print her name here because I know she'd get mad, but I am green with envy.... Wednesday, March 03, 2004
Although its 36 degrees outside, this office is colder than a bus stop in Leeds in the middle of winter.... Friday, February 27, 2004
Life update. Been extremely busy, working long hours and trying to find the time for a small social life! A decision was made last night to drive up to Sydney over the Easter break, which means I can see my niece. Read the other day in the paper that a new working visa has been introduced that allows Australians to work in France. Valid for those aged between 18-30, which doesn't give me much time to apply! Certainly a consideration when my contract finishes... Fromage/vin rouge trouses..... Saturday, February 21, 2004
Been a while since my last update. Have good news though - have a 6 month contract (covering maternity leave) with a company downtown. Great learning experience, not to mention I can now buy my new car in a few months time! Last night, although exhausted, an old friend and I found ourselves at 11pm driving to see Adam Thompson. We had a good laugh about the adventures we had during the Chocolate Starfish days. (Over 10 years ago, I feel old.....!) Sunday, February 15, 2004
Congratulations to Johnny and Robyn on their engagement and the annoucement of their plans to become parents! Looking forward to a wedding! Thursday, February 05, 2004
Melbourne and Vancouver ranked once again as the best cities in the world to live. I have to agree... Was at the fantastic Aquatic Center a few days ago. After swimming our laps Dan and I decided to take on the wave pool. We were the only people in there. Hard to believe I'm going to be thirty years old next year.... Jade has made a million pounds since leaving the Big Brother house... Monday, February 02, 2004
New Zealand writer Janet Frame passed away a few days ago. One of my favourite writers... Only recently finished Micheal King's biography. Thursday, January 29, 2004
Dave sent me this link to BC webcams. Currently raining in Vancouver, but not close to Melbourne late yesterday afternoon.... Monday, January 26, 2004
Its been a while since I've updated. Really busy, but nothing really exciting happening. Saturday night I was invited to the engagement party of Simon and Anka. Had a giggle to myself dancing in a garage in Tootagarook. Was a good night for the whole group of us to be together again - been at leave five years since we were all hanging out. Still temping. Happy Birthday to Saco! Wish I was there to celebrate was counting on an invitation/flight to Fiji.... Last night I purchased the Eric Bana Sketch Show on dvd. All I need now is the actual DVD player! Considering buying a talking pedometer this weekend. Yet another birthday present for me! Wednesday, January 07, 2004
No tears were shed for yesterday's birthday. Even looking forward to a big 21st(?!) birthday next year.... Monday, January 05, 2004
As much as I love Vancouver, I'm kind of glad I'm not there this time of year. A low of -11 and a high of -4 was reported in the paper this morning. Brrrr.... Then again, I guess they don't have to deal with the rather large spiders (huntsman) that are emerging due to the warm weather here. I was petrified last night.... Vancouver Webcams. The Resort - Looking forward to seeing Mr Jon Stevens! "Cantstandya". Interesting observation by Hot Buttered Death about Britney's choice of husband. Cross your legs... Thursday, January 01, 2004
400,000 in town for New Years - no wonder that three extra trains on each line after midnight didn't get everyone home! Luckily I avoided the crowds and instead went to a party with a few friends in Beaumauris. |
