Long weekend. Wasn't invited to the Jubilee party in Liz's backyard. House will be full of Scousers (I'm not going to understand a single word!). Manny going to Spain - does that mean I'm going to have to do some housework?? Thursday, May 30, 2002

Just experienced a Castle-moment , for those of you have seen the movie. But mine involved Tray 4, not Tray 3. Thats going straight to the pool room Sucker - stood up not just one, but two nights in a row. Have social gatherings planned every night over the next week, hopefully they go more smoothly that the last couple of evenings! Monday, May 27, 2002
Okay, so perhaps us Australians are getting a little too obsessed by Big Brother 3, especially as it is only in its early stages. My friend J from London is quoted as calling Jade the"sth east london blonde with no volume control". Wish I could stop singing Ant and Dec's "We're on the Ball". Another annoying, yet addictive song...Think World Cup fever has hit.... Friday, May 24, 2002
I have a dilema. Have been invited around to my friend's next door neighbours apartment on Saturday night to watch Eurovision. The only problem is that my friend invited me around as well to his place. May have to pull a "Peter Brady" - in the episode of the Brady Bunch when Peter Brady had two dates..... Was thinking about changing the name of my blog. Emailed a friend down in London who suggested "the wonderous and exciting adventures of a vegetarian animal slayer". Another friend from Holland called me a Mickey-Psycho-Killer. Now the guilt is starting to get to me... Poor Mickey. We set up mouse traps last night, and this morning I ventured downstairs to find the one under the oven moved. Oh no. Then again, there will be no Funniest Home Video Moments in my house with a mouse running up my leg - eeeh! Wednesday, May 22, 2002
Just remembered an event from a few months ago. Serious story…a friend of mine was mugged one Friday night after pulling out some cash from an ATM. The next morning the police went over to interview them regarding the previous evenings crime. As they were in the middle of breakfast when they arrived, the constables were offered some of the breakfast they were preparing. They were having bacon… The latest going-ons!

You say tomato, I say Celery? Many years ago I came to the conclusion that Australians had the same accent and it is very difficult to tell which part of the country people are from, by listening to the way they talk. This article may just prove me wrong claiming that the way we pronounce the horrid word "celery" is an indication to what part of the country we are from....We went out for drinks on Friday night, meeting up with loud, non-stop talking Australians - resulting in a headache .....ahhhhhhh..... As much as I was laughing to myself this morning about the weather forecaster describing 25 degrees celsius as “sweltering”, I now do think its kind of warm. Sun streaming through my office is actually a little uncomfortable. Shows what happens when you haven’t experienced an Australian summer for a while…. The last episode in the series of Teachers, was shown last night, which has become one of my favourite programmes.
The series is set around the work week of five principal characters who are high school teachers. The cinematography, characters, script, music, originality, the use of a donkey (zebra or penguin for that matter) at the back of a scene every now and then is what has made the show.
Disappointed last nights show began on Thursday. Interesting to see every week how they will let the viewer know what day of the week it is. Last night “Thursday” was written on the car through the fake snow that had been decorating the car to put everyone into the Christmas spirit. The word “Friday” was revoltingly the drool from Brian’s mouth on his pillow as he was sleeping. Essential Wednesday night viewing!
New series begins early next year. Just hope it is broadcast down in Australia. Airdrie check it out if it is ever shown in Canada, you will never look at high school teaching the same way again!

On this useless night
A Blue Rodeo song I can't seem to get out of my head...
And you think I'm sad, check out the fact that someone has dedicated a blog to knitting.....Look at this, (by the way, haven't picked up my knitting needles for months, but once winter hits, I'm sure I'll be right back onto it. Anyone want a scarf??).
Blue Rodeo was great on Monday night although we were all very tired indeed. Only around 150 people there, glad I finally had the opportunity to see them live.
Tonight will be a very quiet one. Think A and J are coming around to watch The Castle. May go to York on Friday night for an evening out somewhere a little different, but not yet sure. Monday, May 13, 2002
When I first visited Canada in my early 20’s, my friend George introduced me to the music of Blue Rodeo.
Tonight we are going to head out to see them as they are playing in Leeds. Very excited!
Warning; no matter how nice the weather is on a Sunday and how well the beers are going down, do not continue to drink from early afternoon through to late evening especially when you have to work the next day. Lesson recently learnt.....

Happy Birthday Janelle for Monday. I hope you have a fantastic weekend of partying in London. I’ll even send the D.O.E (Director of Entertainment) Mr Flutely in case you need any helpful tips in organising the festivities!
Friday night – Mojos for early drinks, but fingers crossed we don’t end up at the University nightclub – last weekend was enough for me!

”OWWWWWWWWWWW” JAMES BROWN Thanks to Andrew – I saw the man himself – James Brown, apparently scoring the last ticket. Waiting outside was quite amusing as there were many an “owwww” heard!
James played for over two hours, accompanied by a brass band who were just awesome. Being only 50 metres or so away from the “godfather of soul”, I must say I was most impressed. Glad I finally had the opportunity to see him after turning down a ticket in Vancouver. A wonderful evening – we even had to sing Happy Birthday to Mr Brown on his 70th birthday. Legendary. ”This is a man’s world”(Ahhhh, you have to laugh….)
Sunday a few of us had lunch in the huge Oak beer garden. And Monday, as it was a public holiday, I didn’t go to work and spent most of the day asleep. Nice to finally be able to sleep in.

Update on my life....
Started new job at St.Mary's Hospital. Really busy, but really great work environment.
Hospital located next to a cemetry, whats with that??
The mouse is still in my house...saw it this morning
Bumped into the guy I was seeing when I first got here. He is applying for a gold pass to Speed Queen. Think my suspicion that he could be batting for the other team could be correct.....
Haven't had my hair cut for five months now.
Still waiting on a postcard from Alistair who is in Spain.
Package holidays to Greece from £130!!
Still haven't got a bank account.
Think I should stop going to clubs where University Students hang out - feel a little old!
