The weekend went passed too quickly. On Saturday it reached 23 degrees – spent the day shopping down Bridge Road (although came home empty handed). Attempting to find a few extra accessories for the up and coming cocktail party and wedding I am attending in the next month….

Chocolate cake at work should be banned....

I can’t live without my email, but it was lovely to get home from work yesterday to find two hand-written cards that I received unexpectedly from two different friends from opposite sides of the world (and its not even my birthday!). A hand written note does go a long way…

Was forwarded photos of Saffa Nick’s recent return visit to the UK, where he caught up with a number of people I used to hang out with. I miss certain parts of the life I had for two years while living in Yorkshire, but then I looked out the window to a sunny winter morning across to the bay and don’t regret leaving England. Would be nice to go back for a holiday, numerous reasons why I would never move back there, but I definitely don’t want to live far from the sea again….

Congratulations to Kerri and Rob on their engagement! (Just hope you aren't rushing into it - after 7 years together!!)

Rumour has it that a certain concert will take place later this year in Sydney - invite only. Want to be entertained - need to get my hands on a golden ticket...

After work last night, went out to Federation Square for a couple of drinks. Although rather striking architecture for Melbourne, this recently created area has a great atmosphere about it. The square could well become my regular socialising venue(/s) – especially during summer.

Melbourne trio, Regurgitator (great website by the way) are to become the “band in the bubble” next month. They will do a “David Blaine” and live for three weeks in a see-through house (but with food!) and record their album in view of the public in Federation Square. I’m a sucker for blatant publicity and will surely go down there for a look-see!!

My new boss just used the saying "play it with a straight bat". Not completely sure what that actually means....

Vaughan's thoughts on the opening of the Olympics. I too noticed the large amount of competitors during the opening celebrations to be on their cell phones. Guess this really is 2004.

I.T. helpdesk at work ‘on hold’ music includes themes from the Smurfs, He-man, Gilligan’s island, The Love Boat, Brady Bunch, Chipmunks etc. Have had the theme tune to 'Charles in Charge' in my head for most of the day.....

My 15 month old niece is coming down from Sydney this weekend. My sister-in-law warns : "Hope you have your ear plugs ready and your hair cut short and a face protector and body armour.......".

What are we letting ourselves in for???

Not sure if its just a Melbourne thing that I’ve noticed recently, or a world-wide phenomenon, but a large percentage of women feel the need to take two bags to work. Every second lady is carrying a large hand bag and in addition an extra bag which contains anything from lunches to magazines/extra shoes/makeup bag/novel/knitting (and sometimes all of these)! How much do you need to bring with you to get through the day? Marla has renamed the cardboard bag (complete with cool-store brand logo) carried by many women to work as the FELB. Female Executive Lunch Bag.

Unlucky Man - a rather funny blog!

Rather busy few months coming up – starting with my niece coming down this weekend, a few 30th birthday celebrations, a hens night, a wedding, a trip to Sydney, the races, potential visitor from Holland (woo hoo!), now just have to get Miss Gillian over here and I’ll be very happy indeed!! (guess I should also find a job to pay for all this socialising!)
