Note to self - Don't go visiting any zoos while in Spain.... Watched a Leeds vs. Chelsea football (soccer) game last night on television. (Don't tell anyone, but I actually really enjoyed it....) Why oh why won't it snow? It's yet to reach anything above 0 degrees today, but the sun continues to shine. Enough with the sun, I want snow! Wednesday, January 29, 2003
Its just hit me that one of my very best friends is getting married in 18 days and I'm not going to be there. Was asked to be bridesmaid a few years ago when she first was engaged. I'm disappointed that I can't make it back there for her special day..... I have another friend who insists that I get married before she turns 30 because she doesn't believe bridesmaids should wear Apricot Taffeta(or baby-blue, still arguing over color) after 30 years of age. I tend to disagree..... Tuesday, January 28, 2003
Its going to be hot in the city tonight! Melbourne - high of 44.1 degrees the other day and tonight not dropping below 35 degrees until after 2am..... Fire at Mount Waverley S.C. - getting a little too close to home....I cannot remember fires being this bad in Victoria for years. The Prince Pat is closing! Bob Frankin remembers the comedy venue: "Once I went through a small door in the wall there and found myself in another world identical to our own - except that all the seagulls wore hats." 43.9 degrees(???!!!) in Melbourne. I am beginning to appreciate a pleasant 9 degrees.... Grenade found at Albert Park Lake??!! What the devil? The Dockic's are to claim aslyum during Wimbeldon? Poor Britain. Happy 3rd Birthday Baby(?) Lo Lo! Really looking forward to seeing Eric Bana as "The Incredible Hulk" - to be released later this year. So glad I didn't stay in London this weekend as a train's motor "fell off" while underground on The Tube. I could not think of a more terrifying experience... Tuesday, January 21, 2003
Recycling in Leeds, and around the rest of the country for that matter, is basically not existent. We are trying to make our house as environmentally friendly as possible, but it is such a challenge to find any decent recycling facilities.... Have a minor eye infection in my left eye. Want to wear an eye patch - freak myself out when I look in the mirror, feel sorry for my work colleagues as I look rather awful........Advice from a friend : "If you do lose your eye, remember: in the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Wise, and indeed comforting, words I'm sure you'll agree." Making me feel so much better.... Monday, January 20, 2003
Yes, its true, I had a fantastic long weekend in London. Unfortunately I have no BodyWorlds Exhibition stories to tell - admission line was huge, probably a minimum two and a half hour wait. As much as I was looking forward to it, think it may have freaked me out a little - check this out. "That man really likes bananas", "look at the fat kid run" - Gillian 2003. Thursday I caught up with Danielle (and Maria with little Edward), then went out with Gill's work colleagues for dinner and a drink. Friday I met Josh and Danielle in Nottinghill (not going to mention that I saw where Robbie Williams lives and had a very lucky Matt Day sighting), then out for Pad Thai and drinks at Waxy's. Saturday night we went to a boat party on the Queen Mary. Great people meeting night. Sunday Gill, Josh, Stu and I spent the day in town before catching up with Tom later in the afternoon. Caught up with Iain for ten minutes as he arrived in London and as I was leaving! Expensive, but fun weekend. Canadian friend has asked me to look out for Coronation Street Merchandise. How cheesy is this alarm clock??? Wednesday, January 15, 2003
I took it upon myself to play Air Guitar for everyone on Christmas day. Check out "What his air guitar technique tells you about him" - found in the booklet that accompanied this rather addictive instrument. Tuesday, January 14, 2003
Only one day left of work this week. Worked out last night I have had five days off in the past 12 months; really need some time away from work. The obvious(?) choice for me is of course to spend these days relaxing down in London. Ohhhh, I really don't like London... Instead I could have taken off to Portugal, Turkey or Spain for the amount of money I'm going to spend this weekend. On the bright side, I heard that Ricky Gervais from the BBC show The Office may be doing a show in London. Would love to see him live. ("You're simply the best" motivational lecture was extremely funny....). Not sure if "Australia Day" is the day we should be taking pride in Australia. The 26th of January was a very sad day in our country's history. Not a day of celebration. Monday, January 13, 2003
Three day work week. Then a very expensive four days in London.... Going out to Greenwich on Thursday with Dan; looking forward to having a good "time"...(with that sort of attempt at humour, someone is proving to be in great need of a holiday....) Friday, January 10, 2003
Patty Pants-Down retires from tennis. Marla is going to be devastated. I have just been informed that there is only Four months and 8 days until we go to Spain.... Thursday, January 09, 2003
This time next week I will be in London with one of my best friends from high school that I haven't seen in 12 months. Never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I'm actually looking forward to going to London... Nellie seems to have picked up her bat & ball and decided to go home....No more Nellie blogging?? I received both of the Coldplay albums for my birthday from my girls. Very pointed. The Scientist will be in my head all day.... And I received one of the two phone calls I was waiting for. Thank goodness its over for another year! (BTW : My blog turns one year old today!) Dave is hilarious. Perhaps I can hang out with him when I'm in London next week... Quote from the weather report last night "this weekend will be warming up, expecting a high of 5 degrees". Are they serious? Tuesday, January 07, 2003
Jacqui and Lou; my Dan Brodie greeting was much appreciated! I'm sure it will be a Happy Day! DILEMA - Should my friend Derek shave off his beard? Monday, January 06, 2003
It is currently -2 although it is claimed to feel like -6 when wind chill is taken into account here in Leeds. Melbourne today; 35 degrees (it actually hit 40.2 degrees)....We spent the day in York yesterday - it was painfully cold. The solarium is calling.... Hot Buttered Death and Haley's comment - always a good read. For those of you in detox - have a read of this. Hilarious! May be the oppotunity to start practising while you have time on your hands.... Have a Michael Franti/Spearhead song running through my head... but hey diddle diddle to the people in the middle we got hot wax and it's cookin' on the griddle Got the guitar strummin the drummer drummin the people all hummin and the vibe was lovin on and on and on 'till the breakadawn Friday, January 03, 2003
I'm sure I read that Arthur's Seat was going to be demolished a couple of years ago... Detox weekend (accidently had a couple of glasses of wine with dinner last night..). Drinking green tea and reading Newspapers. Not to mention saving money.... Happy Birthday to Alistair, Saco, Tony and Allen - all who will be celebrating birthdays in the next week. New Years was a good night - lucky jeans. Via The Onion quiet amusing -- Man who thought he lost all hope looses additional bit of hope he didn't even know he still had. Just invited people over for dinner. House looks like a bomb has hit it. Must go home and clean although bed seems like the better option.... |
